Re: Pink Salmon In The Skagit River

Yeah most of the underwater stuff is at Marblemount just past the bridge and the B-roll is from the rest area by mile marker 101. My wife is living up in Diablo while she works on her Master's, so I get to spend every weekend in the Cascades. Sucks to be me, huh?

Re: Pink Salmon In The Skagit River

Thanks guys! Shot it all in one day in some very cold water. Spent about 8 hours just hanging out with them and letting them get comfortable swimming near me and the camera. Some of them were truly beat up. One actually swam into Jess's hands and just quit swimming! It was thankful to be held for a ...

Got robbed...but they left the gear.

Thanks all for your kind words and maybe more importantly for letting me vent. I am less likely to strangle poor random people on my block over the next 48 hours. Picking up. Moving on.

Right. Like some things my dad left me before he passed and a watch that my mom gave me for my wedding. It's not the monetary value I'm hurt over.

Thanks boy-o's. They got some prints off a window but I'm pretty sure my laptop's on its way to Russia (no offense Vlad!) or India (Namaste MacBook). Either way I'm focusing on the silver lining: I still get to dive this weekend!

Got robbed...but they left the gear.

So I got home last night to find that my house was robbed. The bastard/s stole my laptop and a ton of other important stuff. It sucks. I feel really horrible. There is a bright side though: they walked past the rebreather, the can lights, regs, gates monstrosity, drysuit ect... No interest. Thank Go...

FS: Bare XCD2 Drysuit, Size Large

Hey y'all, I'm looking to sell my large Bare XCD2 Tech drysuit. It's a 2mm compressed neoprene suit in nearly new condition (I've had it less than a year and I'm the first owner). It has Halcyon pockets, a Light Monkey balanced p-valve (take it or leave it) and I haven't trimmed the latex wrist seal...

Re: Whatcom Skagit Island Dive?

There's no good shore dives north of Skyline that are worth it. I've tried. On the rare occasion that the wind comes out of the southeast/east you can get some good viz around Larrabee, but they say the poop blooms are going off there right now so... If you live in Bellingham it's about the same dri...

Video: Dolphin Feast on Bait Ball

I got to hang out with a pod of Common dolphin last year while they tore a school of red-eye herring apart. There's some good examples of bubble netting if you watch carefully. These guys got very friendly with me and even used me as a screen to attack the school! [vimeo]http://www.vimeo.com/2242856...

I dove in a pond covered in green slime off of the 16th Ave exit. Wouldn't recommend it unless you are really into old beer cans and bottles.

Think that missile silo dive is only an hour or 2 from there....

Re: Big Screen Underwater Camera

Depends on what you're gonna use it for. If you guys have the money go for a gates. When all is said and done it'll be a lot more than $10,000 for a new one though. The EX1R would be a good choice. Brand new with camera, extra little things, monitor, lights, wide angle lens is gonna be around $20,00...

Re: Browning Pass Video

I'd love to dive the rapids. I heard people have peed their drysuits on that one. Honestly, I just want to go back. Every time John would tell a crazy story I'd say, "What time of year was that?" And he always said, "Oh around the end of September beginning of October." So, the p...

I got to see the prototype for this sub when I was living in San Francisco a couple of years ago. It's seriously cool to see in person. Those thrusters look a lot bigger in real life. If I remember correctly, this particular model was originally being built by Steve Fosset before he died in that pla...

Lundsyd, love the Lumpsucker! I'm still waiting to see my first one. Like the shrimp with the backlighting too. I'm sure everybody here is bored with Hooded Nudi's, but after seeing them for the first time last week, I really want to try backlighting some of them too. Anyway, awesome shots!

Hey Guys, Just got back from Port Hardy late last night. All I can say is "Wow"! We've been lucky to dive some amazing places, but Port Hardy is easily right at the top of our short list. Had a bunch of video problems and ended up having to shoot on HDV mostly  .... will get that up...

Sweet vid bro! Langley is by back-up spot when the winds are too crazy at Keystone, but I've never had a dive that exciting there. Warbonnet, Starfish shag party AND a beautiful nudi! Too cool. Langley night dive is definitely on the list now. Better make it quick though... I've heard that they are ...
