Re: Double tanks

Yes, when full, she should have no trouble sinking - but (just for argument's sake), let's say that her HP100 is negatively 2lbs buoyant when "empty", and the LP72's are negative 1lb each when "empty" = she gets to wear the same amount of lead (not figuring in weight related to ...

Re: Double tanks

Since the tanks are each lighter then the HP-100's, she should be able to wear less wight on her belt , that this rig should not be drastically heavier then what she is using now. Any thoughts? Just remember that the weight on her belt is directly related to the buoyancy characteristics of the tank...

You should definitely check this before shipping the light back, as the HID ballast requires a min voltage to operate. Charging up the battery and trying again should be a quick and easy means of eliminating it as a potential issue.

Re: Bucknaked and Friends

I was plagued by can light issues most of the dive at Cove 2 - there's a short somewhere in the wiring that I need to find and fix. As a result, I spent the majority of the dive "hunting" within the beam of my camera's focus light. Not a bad thing to narrow your focus once in a while. Foun...

I really need to remember to get a cup of coffee in me before reading your dive reports, Buck. I found myself wondering why an octo would want to bathe a shrimp...and how?

Re: No photo, but I have to share!

Cool beans! Cardiver, Scubie and I literally stumbled across one of these back in April at Redondo. It was a first for all of us, and we didn't have any idea what it was. We didn't have much opportunity to take pictures of it before it bolted - I would too, with three sets of strobes firing at will....

Day Island 8/10/12

Had a nice dive with my buddy Dane on Friday out at Day Island. Slack before ebb was predicted at 1:35pm, and we hit the water a few minutes past our planned 12pm splash. We dropped in at 12:21pm after our surface swim in about 30fsw (we could see the bottom from the surface before descending!), and...

Re: Removing paint from galvanized

Oh ok. Someone must have painted that green. I was just concerned that you stripped a spray galvanized tank (Fabers mostly). If possible you want to avoid that, the paint is an intergral part of their coating and hard to replicate with a can. I have an old Scubapro (Faber) 95 that has some spot cor...

Ahh - I've been looking for the Masterseal 10 instead of the Superseal. We had a few rental drysuits in our shop that had the Superseal, and found the same thing - that they didn't always seat correctly, especially in instances where we the suit "almost" fit the diver. It may be unfounded,...
