With my double 12liter 200bar tanks (around 80cf/3300psi) which are 25kg heavy when empty (55lbs). I use a 4kg (8.8lbs) v-weight and a 5kg (11lbs.) backplate, so about 20lbs of weight is more than enough to get me down and under when using my drysuit, which is made of compressed neoprene and a full ...

About tank sizes
Morgen, one note about the tank sizes. When you guys are forming a dive team, which you pretty much are doing, I'd suggest that you get the same size of tanks for each member of the team, double 80's maybe, they have plenty of gas. Why? It makes planning your dives much easier and safer, less hassle...

I guess you could get a new rig with the same amount of money as this one. A bp+wing costs about 350$ and 500$ should buy you a set of double tanks, used ones are ok. I don't think you will be needing the Argon kit, yet, many divers use them back home but it's waay colder back there. ;) And if you d...

I believe in the description they are described as steel 80's.... Oh, yeah I missed that #-o 80's are a good size of tanks. So J are you saying you don't like th BC????? What I don't like about this bc is all the ding dangs on it, too much plastic buckles, straps, velcros, rings, pouches all kinds ...

What do you guys think about this setup that Dave pointed me to? Do OMS BCDs come in various sizes? I'm a little sketched of buying this because its not from the actual owner, but a eBay selling service. Do you think its worth the $975 (incl. shipping)??? I need to keep up with Dave and his new twi...

I sold it and bought a regular roller suitcase from Costco, which works perfectly and doesn't hint at being full of expensive gear. Also, when it wears out or breaks I can return it with no questions asked for a new one. I'm on my third one! I've read about these Costco bags being good value for mo...

Gear bag for travel?
Hi guys,
I'm thinking of buying a gear bag for travel, possibly a rolling duffle type. So any suggestions on brands? Scuba branded bags are a no go, since I don't want to advertise that I have expensive equipment with me.

Re: Thanks for the replies
:hal the advantages I see to have a plate is that any tank roll should be eliminated and I would imagine it would give you a solid surface to torque down my mounting bolts to as apposed to just snugging them to my BC Yeah, the tanks will stay in place no matter what happens. You usually use wing nut...

:hal Get the SS plate, aluminum won't last and is too light for the doubles. Some have used a 'traditional' bc with doubles but the plastic buckles on the bcs tend to wear out quickly, since they will be under greater stress. Back home I have an extra thick 6mm SS plate from Agir Brokk on my doubles...

Way to go Dave! =D> I sat down on my living room floor and put em on and stood up ( yeah I'm that weird) and walked around the house with them a while and I was surprised that they really didn't seem bad at all??? That doesn't seem weird to me at all, since it's a new piece of gear you need to get t...
