I'm looking to get Avanced Open Water certification--and perhaps combine with Dry Suit certification. Any recommendations or instructors?
Located on the Eastside. PADI Open Water, looking to start diving locally, have all my gear except tanks and dry suit.

Sony DSC-T1 with MPK-THA Marine Pack Housing $200
Sony DSC-T1 5.0 Megapixel Camera & MPK-THA Marine pack underwater housing (40M) This camera is a pretty good setup for a vacation--very small and portable, fits in your pocket. Put it in the underwater housing and you're good to go for SCUBA or snorkeling. Won't be DSLR quality photos, but a goo...

2XL Akona 6.5mm Farmer John. New $110
Akona AKMS404 6.5mm Farmer John Wetsuit Size 2XL Brand New, never been wet. The size is a bit misleading--this wetsuit fits small. I'd fit a 2XL in many brands, but not Akona. I should have paid more attention to the size chart. According to Akona, this Wetsuit should fit someone who is: 195 - 210lb...

30W OMS Phantom canister dive light $250 OBO
OMS Phantom Dive Light 6 Volts 30W 800 Lumens Burn time of 1.5 hours With float charger 4 Extra Bulbs 50 hour lamp light This is a seriously nice dive light. It is a couple of years old, but still works well, battery holds the charge. At 800 lumens, it throws some pretty serious light. I think it is...

OMS Dry Suit Size Large (9.5 boots) $450 OBO
A like new OMS Drysuit, Size Large with size 9.5/10 boots. Apeks drysuit valves, and includes the low pressure hose. It is a few years old, but it was only used for one or two dives and was stored well. Is in excellent, like new condition. Comes with storage/travel bag. This suit would probably fit ...

Re: Wanted: STA
I have the same set-up that I use all the time without a STA. I just use double cam bands and it works fine. You really dont need a STA, just make sure you thread the cam bands through the outside slots in the backplate instead of the inside ones to help reduce any slop. I was wondering if you coul...

FS: New 2XL Akona 6.5mm Famer John Wetsuit (2 pc) $160
I got what I thought was a good deal on a Akona 6.5mm Farmer John wetsuit. I made a mistake reading the sizing chart, and it sure doesn't fit! I'd say it'd fit someone in the 6' 200-230 range. I think it is this model: http://www.scuba.com/scuba-gear-101/053376/Akona-by-Sherwood-6.5mm-2-Piece-Combo....

Re: Wanted: STA
I bought one from LeisurePro today. Best price I could find. OMS Single Tank adapter, with two cam bands for $89--their normal price for it is $139. Some places sell just the adapter alone for more than $90. Probably more than you want to spend, but was the best deal I could find. http://www.leisure...

Metric vs Imperial
Bought a Suunto Vyper computer, and was playing with it. Notice that it is currently set for imperial, and although I'm American I prefer the metric system for stuff. I learned to dive overseas, and the log book and RDP are all in metric (so far). I realize it is primarily personal preference but do...

New Diver from Issaquah
My name is Kris and I'm from Issaquah. Last March went to Thailand for a motorcycle trip and ended up doing a PADI Open Water when I got to Ko Phi Phi. Had a blast. Been busy with other stuff this year, haven't had the time dive locally, and haven't bought all the gear yet. Shopping/ordering gear ri...

Re: Aluminum vs Steel? Pressure
To the OP -- steel makes sense in Puget Sound. If you compare a steel tank and a aluminum tank with the same gas capacity, the aluminum tank will be larger and weigh more on land, but it will not be as negative in the water, and it will therefore require you to wear more lead ballast, so you end up...

Re: Recommendations for Tropical Fins?
I'm planning on ordering some Force Fins for tropical and travel. I guess they have a bit of cult following. I like that they are supposed to be very comfortable open toe, and fairly adjustable. Very lightweight (something like 2 or 3 lbs for the pair) and packable. I'm trying to decide between the ...

Aluminum vs Steel? Pressure
I read a post somewhere talking about how most NW divers prefer steel tanks. Is it just the higher pressure or what is the advantages?
I'm new at this and looking to buy my first setup.

Re: Ideas for somewhere warm
I'm planning on doing a trip with Blackbeard Cruises in the Bahamas in February or March. Best deal I've seen, but it is a liveaboard for a week. They do weekend trips, but I'm not sure if that is only peak season or not.Ideas?

Really looking forward to it!
