Re: Getting in shape for diving and for life.
This is a great post. To add to this, I work in healthcare and I'm amazed at how many people come in for problems that can be solved by just taking a LITTLE better care of themselves. Healthcare is getting crazy expensive and the ability to not only enjoy your life and body longer but to avoid the p...

Re: Need SPG
Hey, anyone have an accurate SPG they aren't using and would like to off load. My 30 year old US Divers one finally failed and I need to replace it, but I'm REALLY short on cash these days. I just need something that works, it don't have to be the latest and greatest hotness (not like my last one w...

Re: No Undergarment- Options?
what size are you? i may have a set of undergarments and socks for you. Don't really know my size and I can't find a size on the drysuit. I had just tried it on and seemed to fit great. I'm 6 foot even at 150 lbs. Clothing I'm right in between M and L. Long Mediums are usually my perfect fit. i hav...

Re: No Undergarment- Options?
You can get by for a bit on impromptu insulation, but it's far from optimal. Start saving right now and buy purpose-made insulation as soon as you can. I dived a drysuit for many years with layers of long-johns & sweats before buying good insulation. After that first dive in good undies I kicke...

Re: No Undergarment- Options?
Rock on, thats what I wanted to hear. I know by winter I'll probably want a good undergarment, but I want to get out and learn how to use this thing now without a whole lot of extra investment. Thanks for the input!

No Undergarment- Options?
I know this is probably a stupid question, but can I wear a dry suit without the fancy undergarment suit? I just picked up a DUI CLX450 and wanna try it out tomorrow, but I don't have the under jammies. I don't really have the extra cash right now to go get one as they are pretty pricey from what I'...

Re: gross
I'm surprised its still going on. That is a ton of money just spilling out into the ocean. I figured someone would have found a way to catch whats coming out of the spill site since thats just money dumping into the ocean. Honestly, it makes me sick. One of the most beautiful places in the world wit...

But if you wanna see combative, work in a shop that sell Harleys and sportbikes in the same building.... Sacrilege!!!!! (Said by the chick born and raised in Milwaukee, WI). I know! All that chrome needs to be tip-toed around and there is oil freaking everywhere messing up fantastic sport tires. An...

Re: Why so combative.....?
I've noticed the politics in dive shops a bit. I've gone a few shops looking for stuff (I'm new and don't have a fav spot yet, so I look in different areas) and when I mentioned I was at XYZ shop looking at something the salesman will almost instantly shut down or get standoffish. I don't know, if I...

Re: Seaplane recovery in an alpine lake
Awesome intro to the story. I'm looking forward to this article along with the pictures of the plane as it came back up. I really can't imagine the plane being worth salvaging, even at top of the line. Being underwater everything would have to be replaced anyway, you'd think. Gotta love the determin...

due to hazardous waste (AKA that battery at cove 2) with the input from the scientists etc... I haven't seen the battery myself but I've heard about it a few times now. What kind of battery is it? Standard car battery? There has gotta be a way to pull that out without leaking everything. If its a c...

Re: Can you recommend a class in Everett?
This is kind of getting away from the first post, Thanks all for the words of encouragement but i would just like to remind all, that junior divers must be accompanied with a family member ( adult) or an AI or Instructor when diving. I may be worng, but the 10 year old student I had last year, that...

Can anyone recommend a program for my girlfriends 12 year old son? Everything I've seen so far an adult needs to accompany him and my girlfriend and I don't really want to take the class just for that. Any ideas would be appreciated!

Anthony, the major problem I have with this is the same one I have with people putting this stuff down there in the first place ... that leaves it up to the individual to decide what's trash and what isn't. ... Bob (Grateful Diver) Understood, and thanks for the other side of the coin. Yeah, unless...

Re: Parks Appreciation Day / Les Davis Clean UP
Could it be done in stages? Pick a few different weekends and maybe haul just a small pick up trucks worth at a time and come back a few weeks later and do it again? That way you could avoid dealing with the Park Police and you could make more events of it. Especially when the weather starts warming...
