Re: Quiet day on the water
We anchored it, and Todd had a reel that he extended a ways for reference, but I generally have a pretty good memory for where I've been. I cruised around the structure a bit then came up to the anchor from the opposite direction from Todd's line. We've had pretty good luck in the past with the line...

Quiet day on the water
Today a gorgeous morning met me as I met up with Todd in Langley. Jan, Pete, and Karl rounded out our crew today. We motored over to Hat Island. I know it was Hat Island because there was a ferry which came out and had Hat Island Ferry emblazoned on the side. Phear my keen powers of observation! The...

Re: Of propwash and washouts
Thanks for the heads up Lynn. I wouldn't really describe it as full out vertigo, just that my sea-legs haven't adjusted back to land legs :) I did the cold water in one ear but not the other thing once, and my world spun out of control, making me really want to close my eyes, lie down, and puke, in ...

Of propwash and washouts
Today I woke up to a typical grey gloomy June day in the beautiful Northwest. I drove to Keystone, where I met up with Pete and Karl to put Karl's freshly worked-on boat in the water. It started up great and we all settled in for the three hundred yard ride to where we wanted to do an exploratory di...

Fish fooled me
So Karl and I met up for a quick Driftwood dive after I got off work tonight. We were a little bummed after the dive, since we had no current at all, but had anticipated lots... enough that we did not do Keystone for fear of current. Driftwood is usually a fun, pleasant dive, and this time was no ex...

i suspect its main function is to cause my diving buddies to move away

Re: Baby, you're beautiful!
you'd have to ask Karl about the specifics, but basically we got the boat in the water, but the motor wouldnt stay running. it sputtered out and died five or six times, and finally pete got nervous that we would be stranded if we continued on that path. i confess that i'd had a mental picture that e...

Re: Baby, you're beautiful!
That's excellent, thanks Dusty! Did you use a "sharpen" command? I never seem to be happy when I use that; I probably go too far when I do it.
Thanks all for your kind words. I AM very excited to be back!

Baby, you're beautiful!
This morning I headed to Keystone on the premise of going boat diving with Karl and Pete. The boat proved unwilling to accommodate these plans, so we scrapped that plan and headed up the beach to Driftwood. The tide charts suggested that the current would be rip-roaring, and sure enough, just puttin...

Ok, this complete noob is going to ask a couple of dumb questions now. Most (all) of my experience has been on a single tank (pony occasionally). I understand that having doubles, well, doubles one's gas tank. Which is useful for...going deeeeeep? REALLY long dives? I'm gathering from this thread th...

Re: If you had to find a new job today... what would you do?
My hubby always says he would happily be a "kept man" if I made enough money. That's more or less what I was. She often referred to me as her "wife" because I kept the kids and the house and did most of the cooking etc. The last several years I couldn't even look for a job becau...
