Re: Mystery pink appendage

I think you nailed it. A quick look at internet images found a photo that looks exactly what I saw. So 10 feet wasn't exaggerating - they can get to be many 10's of feet long apparently.

Thanks for the ID!

Mystery pink appendage

Diving at Possession Point Fingers last weekend I came upon a long, pink fleshy thing that I first thought was a man made object. However, when I picked up the end of it and looked closer it looked like some sort of worm or tentacle (sans suction cups). It started to retract slightly after I picked ...

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

I'll be going to Punta Cana, DR (specifically the Arena Gordo area 30km northwest of the Punta Cana airport) in a couple months for a family vacation and plan to do a bit of diving while I'm there. I'm wondering if anyone has been diving there and can provide any recommendations. E.g. best places to...

Thanks, Anthony. Can't make it tomorrow. Managed to find some folks to dive with today, fortunately. If anyone saw a piercing bright light in the Redondo area, that was me with my new light from Dusty. :)

I'm picking up a new Z Lite from Dusty tomorrow and would like to do a couple dives to try it out. I need a buddy. Anyone want to dive tomorrow?

Okay, thanks folks. I doubt I can make it that early - I'll have to play it by ear with work tomorrow. Looks like EUP is another option. Either way I hope to get in the water tomorrow!

Hi guys - what is splash time for these dives? Trying to figure out if I can make the first one if I get all my gear ready in advance and can escape office in due time.

Hat Island Barge

If there is one word I can think of to describe this site it's: multidimensional. The barges in front of the Hat Island (Gedney Island) marina are quite expansive and have deteriorated and settled on the steep slope of the marine entrance in such a way that it feels more like you're exploring a larg...

Re: Hat Island site info?

@Rockfish, your post has me reconsidering doing the reef. We'll be diving from a live boat. We'll be in the area to dive the barge anyway, so might as well drop down the anchor line and see how the current is (assuming viz is worth it). Can you tell me how to find the site? @Jeremy, if this dive tom...

Re: Hat Island site info?

@LCF, I'm surprised you noted the reef is not current sensitive. Playyourdive.com rated the reef ( http://www.planyourdive.com/map/sites/408/Hat%20Island%20Reef/ ) as advanced due to strong current. Plus I've seen the current out there and it looks strong from the surface. Maybe you just had a lucky...

Hat Island site info?

I'm looking to dive the barge and/or the wall at Hat Island and wondering if anyone has visited these sites? If so, how are they? Could you point me to (or provide your own) instructions for finding/navigating the sites?

Thanks much!

Diving in the Turks, St. Thomas, and/or Suan Juan

Hi folks, I'm going on a Caribbean cruise with my family in a few weeks which has stops at Grand Turk (for 7 hours), St. Thomas (for 9 hours), and San Juan, Puerto Rico (for 10 hours). I'm wondering if anyone has recommendations for any of these places. - Any specific dive site I should see? - Can y...

What kind of creds are required to roll with the seals at night? I didn't see that elective in the AOW book. ;-). Sounds like fun, though!

Yes, I didn't just offer to go diving with myself. Jeremy - by 5 I should know if my tanks will be done yet. I'll keep you posted. I also had to send my computer in yesterday for 3-4 weeks. So today I'm looking around for a backup plan. Let me know if you have a spare you can lend. (I ...

Is MMM still going?

I'm looking to do a night dive this week and there's a chance my tanks (in the shop getting a visual) will be ready in time for a dive tomorrow night. I'm wondering if the Mukilteo Madness group I read about in the sticky post is still going on?

Re: Redondo tides and currents

Well the tide table showed a max current of .5kt for Muk today. But as it turned out, there was a whopper of a current in the afternoon. When my buddy and I went in for our 2nd dive around 2pm we could not surface swim to the buoy - the current whisked us toward the ferry and we couldn't fight it. H...

Redondo tides and currents

I'd like to dive at Redondo this Saturday but I'm wondering about the tides and current. Is Redondo a current-sensitive site? I've only been there once (at the club event in July) and don't recall a current. When I look at the tide chart at planyourdive.com it looks kinda wild, but maybe that's norm...
