Re: Primary lights for new divers
I LOVE princeton tec lights. They have a great warranty. I have a tec 400 which I love, everyone who borrows it loves it and it runs about $30. Its small enough you can clip it and forget it, but has great beam and brightness. I have had it for almost 10 years and am still using it nearly every dive...

I always considered the most dangerous thing to be the fact that you can't breathe underwater... you know without equipment.

Obviously the camera guy was really worried, he didn't even help!!!
This happened to my husband a couple times when he was diving at an aquarium doing shows, those octos aren't stupid, they put thier tenticles over the diaphram so it stops working.. they also would release his weight belt.

Re: silicone neck seal review
I am very interested in this discussion, I was unawares that there was now silicone available for dry-suits. (I have been dry-docked with a 2 year-old) I am allergic to latex, makes for not so much fun drysuit dives. I bought some of the bio seals, but they leak and I always forget to put them on. P...

Yes, living so close to the cal. border I knew it wasn't allowed but wasn't sure if they changed it in oregon or not since I left.
My husband also said that scuba/freediving depends on area and what you fish for.

Re: Spearfishing help? (NO hijacking please!)
The "hawaiian sling" or pole spear is generally where you start as a spearfisher. They are not only cheaper but actually easier in some way. But the problem with them is if you don't get enough power behind them they tend to glance off the fish whereas with a gun you generally have much mo...

Re: Manta dive on the big island..
Hey, the dive was good. We ended up going with jacks and keller was our DM. We saw 14 mantas on the night dive and it was quite croweded down there! Overall I would say it was worth it but there were 20+ people on the boat and not enough people to help you off/on. Both dives I had to throw my stuff ...

Re: Where should I go?
I love the input! I don't think Bonaire because of sandfleas and most accomidations are quad+ occupancy. Not so great with a baby. I so want to go to do Indonesia (I even won the 'coupon' from the treasure hunt for wakatobi) but its very very very expensive and a long flight! Is Cozumel having the s...
