Re: Car-sized ball of squid eggs
The one in Cove 2 (that I remember) was back in 2004 - it was in about 45ft or so, near-ish to the can buoy mooring block. And it was huge. I'll never forget seeing it because the mating frenzy was going on as I was doing a descent with my team and instructor during a diving course. I remember turni...

PS: Oil Rig dives are up north and those boat take out of LA. Fun diving for sure but will mean a bit of a drive.
PPS: Traffic in San Diego is NOTHING compared to Seattle. Especially during AM boat calls on a weekend.
Have fun!

Re: San Diego diving...
Hi, Waterhorse Charters is a solid and reliable boat, and they run just about every weekend. Reasonable rates, full meal provided in between dives, and they have a clean safety record. There are a couple of smaller charter ops around, if you'd like info on those just ask. :) There is some nice shore...

Re: Keystone confuses me
IIRC, Keystone wasn't in all of the Fischnaller editions, but then again, I haven't looked at other editions than what I own in a very long time. What I do know is that typically it seems like I've had to plan 30 minutes earlier than what even Fischnaller would say to make the dive work, and I have ...

Terrible... :( That's now 3 of my favorite north-end spots wiped out. Edmonds Oil Dock, Langley Reef, and the Gedney barges. Booooo.... :(

Re: Any Interest in a NWDC Dive Travel Trip?
Palau would be high on my list. Also, surprisingly, I have yet to be to Bonaire. Would need to be mid to late 2015 for me, travel calendar is booked up through April 2015 already. It would be uber helpful if travel aligned with school calendar dates - not a must given my position at this point in ti...

I only know of live-aboards, the Carpe Diem and the Carpe Vita. Both are outstanding vessels.
In terms of day diving almost every resort partners with a dive facility that has the ability to do day boat diving.
Enjoy, it is beautiful!

BOOOOOOOOOOOM!
Awesome write up, Jeremy, and thanks for sharing. Kudos on ticking off a healthy chunk of Fischnaller awesomeness. Looked to be the perfect weekend for it between topside sunshine and current predictions.

Re: What defines a "Stroke" diver?
Awesome post Bob. And thanks for the shout-out. :) I've spent considerable time and effort over the past decade (plus) trying to work on a more positive face for team diving and I've made many wonderful friends from that outreach, including you. One lesson I have learned along the way is that there ...

Re: PB4Y Bomber Line is Still Great
Thanks for the video shout out! The bomber is one of my favorite dives. I think Richard is right in that Ben and/or Andrew G originally put in the line quite some time ago. IIRC they dropped in from a boat and then took a heading to shore and ran it in. Over time it's been snagged and pulled goodnes...

Re: Thank You John Rawlings
John, your sage wisdom and unassuming presence and wise moderating will be missed. I can't remember exactly when or how I met John, but I'll always remember the handful of dives I got to do with him. He opened my eyes and taught me to appreciate the tiniest of creatures in the water, among many thin...

Re: Need a womans perspective
I will +1 to Lynne's comment about the continuous webbing and backplate setup. It is a winner in terms of flexibility and comfort regardless of your build. Don't judge it until you put one on! If you are shorter, a shorter plate might also be a consideration for you. Also +1 about masks being a very...

Love this post. :) I remember my first dive on the cars and it was pure magic even with a semi-flooded drysuit... I had the great fortune of diving quite a bit with John Rawlings back when I was still a newb and hearing him talk about Lake Crescent definitely had a role in my signing up for tech tra...

Look forward to seeing everyone there. Mercer, I could be talked into scootering. I'm toting my Cuda home with me so that it's available through the winter since I'll be around so much. :) Anyone else want to scoot that night? I think I already have a buddy lined up for dive one, so I'd be in for a ...

Sheesh, thats like paying someone to buy it :) if it doesnt go, I might just keep it, im in no rush to sell. Sorry - no longer for sale. :BDub: I don't know that paying $2500 is like you giving me cash along with the scooter to offload it, but if you're offering... don't get me wrong, I'll take it....
