Re: Manta Ray night dive--Kona, Hawai'i 7-6-09 (with video)
I did that same dive with Kona hanu divers last year. Truely a experience never to forget. After the dive they offered the video that one of the DM's took. It had some shots of each person in it plus some great additional footage. OK twist my arm, yes I bought it. For all the expense to get there, I...

Re: My New Desktop Background
Hey if you are interested. I just found out I earned a free trip to the big island from one of the distributors I work with. I will be at the Muana Kea area Nov. 12 , :supz: and definatly looking to do some diving. I can't stay out of the water very long. A couple of years ago I was in Kona and expl...

Re: Maui... recommendations?
I just got back from Maui last month. I seem to get there every year and dive. Last time we stayed down in Kihei. Five caves is a good dive with some suprises in some caves if you are early, enter from the park on the south side, and surface swim to the house with the pagota roof and drop down there...

Re: Lake Dives around Portland/Vancouver
Go next door to Yale lake. I wasn't diving at the time but it is a beautiful lake with about half the people. If I remember right, on the south side of the lake the vis was probably close to 40 foot. The lake has a sandy rock bottom. I bet it is a great dive.

Linda Sue charters out of Garibaldi, does dive trips with one of the Portland shops also. They go spear fishing at Cape Lookout. In the summer they would go once a month. Just call the charter and ask.

For what it is worth, I would never travel with a bag that advertises 1000,s of dollars of stuff inside. I use the costco rolling bag.

Re: A fun week of diving the Oregon Coast
I agree with your report on Netarts Bay. I've dove it probably 60-70 times, and one of the best was when the surf was high and the storm surge was pushing water out of the boat ramp. Ther were white caps a couple of feet high. Down below the vis. was approaching 20 foot ( amazing ).

Re: Maui Diving Gear
I use a 7mil shorty and am just right. Maui is a little warmer than the big island. there a 3-5mil full suit. As far as lights depending on the depth. There is plenty of ambient light to the bottem of rec depths, but to bring out the colors I take my backup light. Also to peer into cracks and crevis...

Going to Maui April 21st, nobody else in the group dives. Anybody else going around then? It would be fun to hookup and do some diving. I plan on going with Prodiver one day. Maybe some shore diving if I can find anybody wanting.

Re: Netarts This Sunday 2/8.
Love to join you. Don't know though. Might be razor clamming at seaside instead. Be sure to watch your high tide timing. High is a little after 11:00 am with about 7 foot exchange on the fill and 10-1/2 foot on the ebb. The current will be rippin at anytime but high slack. Just a heads up. I've dove...

I think we could modify the bar in back for tanks without much problem. Nice bike by the way. Am I mistaken or is that the "Peter Iredale" in the background, (not much left).

Re: Tillamook Bay/Garibaldi dive sites questions
Hi Janna, The coast guard tower that everyone talks about is on the channel side of the jetty right where the sandy beach on the north contacts the jetty. If that makes sense. The large parking lot you were noticing is also a entry point. The large pool of water that is there is deceiving, because i...

Pumpkins At Netarts Bay
Ok here it is. Does anybody have any interest in a pumpkin dive at Netarts Nov. 1. For those of you who havn't done this in the past, it is tough. Remember pumpkins float. Get in the Halloween spirit. Let me know what interest is out there. For those divers up North yearning for cheese, trees, and o...

The Linda Sue, is chartered 1 sat. a month all summer long by Adventure sports on east division in portland. You just have to contact them. If I remember correct the charge was $80-85. As for diving outside the surf in Oregon, I have dove Haystack rock at Pacific City, and South side of Cape Lookout...
