The effects of the tsunami (radiation, chemicals, etc) was one theory that was brought up at our after dive lunch....

Re: Sea star die-off

I dove Sunrise today, and it was pretty sad. I saw three types that were definitely impacted--sunflower stars, Stimpson's (a.k.a. striped sunstars), and another type of sunstar. I couldn't be sure if they were Northern or Orange as they were colorless and a bit too far gone. I'd estimate 50% of sunf...

Re: Lightroom 4 or 5?

Make sure your computer has enough RAM to run LR without it totally bogging down. 8g is not enough. 16g is sufficient, but more would be even better. LR is a total memory hog!

Help! Scratch on wet macro lens!

Yup, I have managed to scratch my wet macro lens for my Oly Pen housing. It is glass--looks like a big magnifying glass. Is there a way to get a scratch out? If so, how? Or, where can I take it? Any info/advice would be greatly appreciated!

Diver Etiquette?!?

What is wrong with people? My dive buddies and I arrived at 3-Tree this morning at 7:15ish for an early morning dive. We knew we needed to be as quiet as humanly possible since it was so early on a blustery Sunday morning. It's a private neighborhood, and it's the perfect day to sleep in (if you're ...

Be careful with your gear. Sunscreen will eat through latex seals. I've seen it happen right in front of my eyes.

Re: Channel Islands Exposure Suit Recommendations

Prior to owning a dry suit, I did one trip off the Conception in a 7mm. I survived, but a drysuit is so much more comfortable. Next two trips, I only took a drysuit. I would personally skip the wetsuit unless you want to take it as a back up.

Re: E-PL1 Users Group

Honestly, my settings didn't change much. I used aperture mode with ISO set at 200. For most shots, I stayed at f11--even for wide angle. In aperture mode, shutter speed didn't fluctuate and was at 1/60. Yes, I did use the macro lens quite a bit. The only thing that I'm really doing differently here...

This thread hasn't seen any action in awhile, so I thought I'd give it a bump. Still loving my camera/housing! This was taken back in April in Maui. How's everyone doing with their kits?

Re: drysuit info?

My first drysuit was a USIA. At the time, I loved it. I put about 500 dives on it with only one leak at the very end (small hole in the leg). Now, I'm a DUI gal...and will be forever more. ;) The quality, durability, and above all the comfort is just so much better, in my opinion.

LOTS of fisherman, LOTS of boats coming in really close including one that pulled up all the way to shore right above us, and another one dropping about a dozen crap pots in around 40-50 ft of water.
