Re: Mares Power Plana fins

I was just at Tacoma Scuba today and they have Power Plana fins.
I think Josh said they have them as rentals.
You might want to give them a call, he could give you some info.
I need new fins also so I may try a pair in the next week or 2.

Re: New Diver at Great Hood Canal Location

Hello and welcome.
I am about 30 miles north of you and on the other side of the Hood Canal at Seabeck.
When your ready to check out the other dive sites on the Canal send me a PM.
As for Sund you should have any trouble finding dive buddies for there.

Re: Question about Sunday in the hood

I have dove a 12ft exchange before out there. It wasn't bad but you could feel it.
Are you shore diving or from a boat?
That would make a difference.
If your going from Mikes Beach I wouldn't try it.
Its a 400-500 yard swim and you would be fighting the current and the wind.

Made it to 282ft below.....

Sea level that is.
Was in Death Valley the other day and made it to the lowest spot in the country.
Talk about a wasteland, wow.
After seeing the driest, hottest spot I will take are rain and water any day of the week.

A question ( or two ) for all divers

I was asked this question the other day. What made me want to start scuba diving? So I will ask the same question. What made you want to scuba dive? Also I will add the question for those long term divers. What makes you still want to dive? Question 1 There were a couple of reasons I wanted to scuba...

Re: Paging Pickup Truck Owners!

As a Tacoma owner let me clear something up. The plastic liner is your bed. There is no metal under it so you can't remove it . You could still use a spray in liner but I have never seen anyone do it.The bed is very tough as is. As for corrosion go's I wouldn't worry about it. My 2003 Tacoma had a ...

Re: Getting in shape for diving and for life.

I'm glad to see others trying to lose weight too. We take our health for granted sometimes and lie to ourselves that all is fine. I was able to carry 50 extra pounds around for the last 10 years just fine so I thought. I only now realize the toll it was taking on me. On a good note my fitness level ...

Re: Pinnacle and Wolf Eels on Eggs

First off, thanks Keith for enduring the boat ride from Hell. I wanted to test the boat out and boy we did. When we came up from our 2nd dive I thought we were at Neah Bay on a bad day. That was the worst turn of weather I've seen on the Canal in 15 years To bad there wasn't much to see today except...

Thanks again for your Reponses.
I will say I didn't see any fish guarding the nest.
There are a lot of small to medium size Sculpins around there so your probably right.
I will be curious to see when they hatch. maybe I can get a shot of some little ones.

Re: Getting in shape for diving and for life.

Great post Don. Keeping someone's weight down and in check is really not that hard to do, once you have that habit and that exercise fever going. It really depends on which side of the coin one is: Whether you're on the overweight side and just can't get that rhythm going to make it a habit of exer...

Getting in shape for diving and for life.

Hello everyone. A few of you know me, most of you don't. I thought I would take a few minutes and share a page of my life with you. A year ago today I made a life changing decision. That was to lose weight and get in shape. It was a cold February morning and I just finished up my 1st dive. I was sit...

Thanks for the response's.
The funny thing is I would have never given them a second look a year ago.
I see a lot of the Painted Greenlings there but never a Kelp or White spotted.
I will have to keep an eye on them.

I was wondering if someone might know what these are.
I seen these at Flagpole in the Hood Canal about 70fsw.
They had more of a purple color in person and about the size of a BB

I found a good deal on some regs but don't have a use for them now.

1st Stage Reg Question

I was wondering how long is the shelf life of a new unused 1st stage.
Will the O-rings and seals go bad?
Can I keep it 1,2, 3years new in the box and still use it without getting it serviced?
