Re: Getting drysuit experience advice

Let me clarify. Having your own gear will allow you to become more comfortable when diving because you will understand how your gear works and can figure out buoyancy and trim issues a lot better than diving with rental gear. That said, I wouldn't spend a bunch of money on a dry suit without getting...

Re: Getting drysuit experience advice

I would say take a dry suit class. Of course, like everything in diving, you need to have a good instructor. Also, I'd advise you to have your own gear, but not necessarily the dry suit. From my experience, getting the certification recently from Bob, I had a difficult time adjusting to the rental g...

Re: Interesting Book

I'll have to check this book out. It sounds interesting from the reviews. However, apparently one person who had been interviewed for the book wrote some negative comments about some of the facts Nestor presents. I am not sure if that is entirely relevant if you are reading the book for your enjoyme...

It would be nice to have some feedback about your experience with the DR wing. I have been eyeing one myself, but I'm looking at the Voyager not the Rec. Any reason why you chose this wing?

Re: Am I really going to freeze in a wetsuit?

@Jeremy: Where could I purchase a semi-dry suit in Washington? I live in Seattle and don't mind driving, except if it's Spokane! Also, is there a general problem with wetsuits and diving doubles, or is it just you personally? @pogiguy05: I think I need either a 3xl or 4xl. I am not sure if your wets...

Re: Advice on a drysuit

Where do you go to get a custom dry suit made? Or, is there a shop that has a range of sizes? I'm interested in getting one but the manufacturers put me either in a 3xl or 4xl suit, which doesn't seem to be stocked anywhere.

If you want a good towing truck, I can vouch for the 2010 Ford F-350 Super Duty. My dad has one and it has a towing capacity of 15,000+. It's a great truck.

Good idea! Indeed, that's a cool car. Why doesn't someone just put two gigantic horns on each side of the car like a viking helmet as well?

Dive Site Ranking? Novice to Advanced.

Does anyone have any idea about a website or some kind of publication that ranks dive sites for novice to advanced divers in the NW? I am just curious because I have no clue about the dive sites that people are talking about on this forum and I thought that I would just do a little research while I ...

What's new in PADI? Buoyancy, BCD removal and tables.

I just thought that I would ask this question, or perhaps open a whole can of worms, to those of you that are instructors and others who have been certified for awhile. For those of you that got certified when I did (1991 when I was 12), I remember in OW class having to take my BCD, weights and mask...

Re: Am I really going to freeze in a wetsuit?

Thanks for the comments. One last question. Does anyone know of a good place that sells a variety of wetsuits, bcs (b/w), brands/sizes to try on? Essentially, I have to buy my gear (again!). I got a mask, fins, snorkel, but the wetsuit and boots are definitely a no go for the NW.

Thanks for the poem! It was really nice.
I’m sure the water won’t feel near to ice,
So I’ll just dive out of sincere advice.
I just hope I don’t shrivel up and pay the price.

Am I really going to freeze in a wetsuit?

Just a quick question because I am new to diving in the PNW. I know that a lot of people dive dry, but is it common to see people with wetsuits? I'm obviously not going to jump into a dry suit for a couple months, but my question is if diving is doable in a wetsuit? I used to go surfing in NorCal an...

Re: Hello from Seattle

Thanks LCF and BASSMAN. I hope everyone enjoyed the 4th. @LCF - I saw your husband's name through a number of forums and so I contacted Sound Aquatics. All of the instructors there sound quite experienced, which is what I am looking for. I do not want an instructor just to go through the routine and...

Hello from Seattle

Hi, I'm new to the forum, but not to diving. I am a native of Seattle, but I have never been diving in the NW. I have been diving for about 20 years as an AOWD through PADI and never thought to really get more credentials because I didn't need them. My diving experience comprises all sorts of places...
