Re: Salish Sea Video

Thanks guys! Yes shore dives. Very easy to access with short flat walk from parking. The Sunflowers and Striped Sun's have been hit hard up here. There are still some healthy mature ones at some sites but not the norm to see one. I am seeing lots of juvenile ones lately however in the 2" size s...

Re: Madrona Pt Shore Dive Vancouver Island Octo's

Using 2 i Torch pro video 5. Approx 1500 lumens a piece. Each one on a flex arm/tray. Not sure about taking a snap during recording. It can be set to take one at the end of recording. Have to give that a try.

Two walls to choose from. Shallow Small wall right off the shore 50ft deep. Big Wall surface swim 95ft deep. 8 -9 resident GPO's. Here's a vid of the Small wall at Madrona.

Re: E-PL1 Users Group

It's a slippery slope but you know that. I got mine when it was camera/lens/housing for $399. So bang for buck it was hard to beat. Just needed the zoom gear for another $50. The E-PM1 was also priced pretty low just after I purchased. I look at it as a future proof system. I can add lenses and stil...

Re: E-PL1 Users Group

Wondering about the different uses for the function button for the E-PL1 and why. I set mine to manual focus. That way if auto focus gets close but not dead on I can hit function for manual focus, rock the camera slightly backward or forward to get the focus I want. Then when I depress the shutter t...

Re: E-PL1 Users Group

I see there is a focus gear available for this lens. I guess if you want to manually focus it's a must have. From what I've been hearing and seeing the auto focus is very accurate. Do you have/use the focus gear?

Nice detail. Could you post the settings? Are you switching the 60 to macro before closing up your housing?

Re: E-PL1 Users Group

20130920-P9200925.jpg ISO 100 - 42mm - f8 - 125 Cropped and adjusted for WB, Tone and Prescence in LR4. Anybody using the Oly 60mm? Was disappointed it wasn't included in the last sale that just ended. Hoping it comes around again before xmas. I was tempted by the 40 - 150 for topside. At $119 it w...

Re: E-PL1 Users Group

I notice that your ISO is steady at 100, and that your shutter speed varies between 1/60 and 1/80, and your F stop between 3.5 and 5.6. Are you manually varying those settings? The only other variation I see is between 14mm & 42mm, which I am assuming is you zooming all the way in and all the w...

Re: E-PL1 Users Group

Thanks for the welcome! An E-PL1 U.G. Dive, I'll second that! I think that light placement is critical to good video results as well. With the volume of backscatter we get it helps to position the light away from the camera as far as possible. Seems like my camera was picking out individual bits of ...

Re: E-PL1 Users Group

E-PL1 Users Group!!!! Oh yeah! I'm in! Thanks! .......Are you taking Canucks? I was shopping around for a replacement housing for my cracked Pany ZS3 housing when I found the deal at Adorama on the EPL1 + Housing. With the Pany P&S I didn't have RAW, only limited manual control, no way to play a...
