Re: Real world example at an opportune time
Ahh ok...now the light comes on. The BADVPTD is a pain in the butt. I have had the one on my left shoulder dump valve on my Knighthawk caught under the shoulder strap and it is a pain in the butt to get unstuck. I haven't ever had the bottom BADVPTD get caught on anything. Seems like a simple fix, i...

Re: Real world example at an opportunities
The scubapro pure tek system is actually not a bad system if you can get a good deal on it. Its pretty much a standard bp/wing system with a couple oddities, like the big ass dump valve pull tab doohickey.. But mostly a solid system. Especially the single tank config. If you can get that at an aweso...

Re: Real world example at an opportune time
If it were me, I'd be looking into used BP/W's on Scubaboard and Decostop. Then flipping the knighthawks onto Craigslist or scubaboard. You might even come out cash even on it depending on how used the knighthawks are. In theory this is a great idea....BUT, I am in the DiveCon program with my LDS a...

It's a half step between Dive Master and Instructor for Scuba Schools International. It stands for Dive Control Specialist.Jeremy wrote:What is a DiveCon program?

Re: Probably a stupid question but I have to ask
+1 on what Koos said, especially the part about Lynne. :) I've found that an approach in other hobbies/lines-of-work for me also is true for team-diving. Here are the 4 components in order of priority. 1. Mindset 2. Tactics 3. Skill 4. Equipment Don't get caught-up on the equipment part... the most...

Real world example at an opportune time
To set up the story it is necessary to understand that my wife is a skeptic at heart. She is a damn good wife and to sum it up, I out punted my coverage when I lucked into her! However, she is a skeptic, especially when it involves spending money on (blank), especially when we already have gear. I t...

Re: Keystone Jetty 5.19.2012
Hanging out in kelp, tall first dorsal- sounds like you may have seen a small silverspotted sculpin. That is it!!! Thank you for your help. Is there a better book, place to look, etc, than Welks to Whales? Perhaps the better question is where is a better place to look things us. I'm finding out tha...

Re: Keystone Jetty 5.19.2012
You can't generally go by color but I don't think I've ever seen a green Sailfin Sculpin. Can you describe what it looked like a little better and maybe we can ID it for you? I'll do my best. It was about an inch and a half long. The body had the characteristics of a tidepool sculpin and, just behi...

Keystone Jetty 5.19.2012
With the currents pretty slow/non-existant I decided to hit Keystone today to log my 100th dive. My wife decided to go with and read her book while I dove the pilings and then followed the rope line to the Jetty. I'm very glad she decided to come with. When I descended at the pilings it was 8:25 the...

Probably a stupid question but I have to ask
I have been a lurker on the Team Diving board and have spent some time looking into the DIR discipline of diving. Very sound but with 2 divers in the family, it will take some time (and some serious treasure) to get set up. I recently came into ownership of a 7 foot primary regulator hose. I am 5'10...

Hello from Whidbey Island
I wanted to introduce myself. I live up on Whidbey Island and recently decided to get back into diving. I was originally certified back in 2004 and stopped diving when my dive buddy (my wife) experienced warm water diving in St. Thomas and announced following the last dive, "I will not get into...
