Re: Mukilteo currents?
I've been diving the tdoc more times than I care to admit. The current is pretty much always diveable. Even at its worst it can be kicked w/out too-much trouble. That said, 2-out-of-many dives I experienced a freak current that comes out of nowhere. It lasts only a few mins. I always felt it might ...

Re: Free-diving class advice
I took a freediving class in Bonaire (as a favor for a friend) in January. He was starting a new course and wanted test "students" to evaluate it before going live. I found the class surprisingly informative and worthwhile. There is a lot of theory and history behind freediving, and some ...

Re: Free-diving class advice
Sheahan, without training I can hit 40 ft but its only for 40 seconds (thats the average). I'm not trained. We are about the same size and I'm pretty sure we are the same on the fitness level. You can find some videos on techniques but SWB (shallow water blackout) is something I see mentioned alot ...

Free-diving class advice
I am going on a cruise this winter and was wondering if it would be worth taking a free-diving course. I do not really want to rent scuba gear.
Would you recommend taking a class to increase my breathold, or does it take years to learn?
Any comments appreciated.
Thanks,
Sheahan

mouthpieces are a subjective thing, some folks love them. Either way if you want a new mouthpiece send me a pm with your address. This is what I have had from HOG...nothing but outstanding service. Chris has sent me a few things free of charge, and will answer any questions you have personally! Yea...

Since I missed the show I heard about it on Scuba radio: http://www.scubaradio.com/srpodcast.xml
But Rick says we have 40' wide octo's...that seems a little extreme. 40' diameter from leg to leg seems too much like sci-fi.

Re: Underwater Mapping
I still have a dream of creating a cool 3D dive map. But I saw a video on TED about Photosynth. It takes multiple photos and turns them into a 3D model. I am hoping this will work underwater. What do you guys think? I don’t think it will work with a fish eye lens though. Here is the video that expla...
