Re: Dive Accident in Nanaimo
Its kinda of sad now that both have been publicly identified. Now its finally real. I first dove with John and Bob at Lobster Shop Wall sometime ago. Bob was a pretty experienced and knowledgeable diver that John looked up to. John was just beginning to dive doubles back then. He was a very enthusi...

Fom the picture it looks like a burst disk blew on one of the bank bottles ... ... Bob (Grateful Diver) I thought it read that the tank was outside at the time. Their bank bottles wouldnt be outside would they? Looks like the whole "inside/outside" line is blurry right now. You guys OK? N...

The rubber boots just retain saltwater and cause corrosion, in my experience- I usually cut them off.Linedog wrote:I'm ditching my console and going to just a SPG on a boltsnap. Do you recomend a rubber boot or are they robust enough without one?

Thanks guys! 2013 wasn't a good dive year for me, for a lot of reasons. But I'm hoping to turn that around in the near future. I appreciate all of your friendship and support very much.

Re: Keystone
Sounds like a bit more experience reading tide charts is in order. Keystone is a dive where one would consult Current Charts/Tables since the state of water currents are are dependent on the tides but don't directly correlate with the tidal state. The tide tables will give you a rough idea of the m...

Re: Looking for a great inexpensive light?
I just picked up one of these this week ... http://www.diverightinscuba.com/catalog/1000-lumen-dive-light-p-3380.html Took it diving in Lake Washington yesterday. At 85 ffw I gave it a side-by-side comparison against my 21W HID Salvo, and I must say I'm pretty impressed. Pretty close to the same sh...

Re: I am looking at reels and SMB's...recommendations?
I usually get a bunch of crap every time I recommend this, but this is my absolute favorite SMB: http://www.northeastscubasupply.com/buddy-marker-bag-din-version-orange/ It's a self-inflate. You can recharge the little bottle from any DIN tank. And I love it. It does take up a whole drysuit pocket, ...

Wow- thanks for sharing, and I'm really glad you're OK! I won't lecture you, but I do want to say that this kind of thing really shouldn't happen, ever. I hope you keep diving, but I hope you take steps to learn how to keep this kind of situation from happening again. Feel free to PM me if you want ...

Tacoma Scuba is involved with Hollis you may talk to them about instructors. I know they have taught two classes, one with an instructor from Hawai'i and one with an instructor from Vancouver. It sounds like the instructor from Vancouver recieved some high remarks. I think the instructor from Vanco...

Re: I am looking at reels and SMB's...recommendations?
Spools are fine. But I don't like them. Prefer reels for a variety of reasons. Anyway, I dislike the side handle config of Halcyon and Light Monkey. My favorite is the good old Long Island Wreck Reel: http://www.reefscuba.com/litension.htm Josh, i think i may still have one of these laying around c...
