A friend of mine is looking to do a referral class with the classroom and pool sessions here (live in Sammamish) and the diving in Oahu. Any recommendations for shops to work with in Oahu?
There would be one adult and his son who is 15 (junior cert).
The trip is in April.
Thanks,
-Chris

Re: Shops in the area that fill using a water bath
I believe one of the reasons water baths were used originally was in case a tank failed during filling. The water bath would absorb some of the energy of the explosion.

Excellent situational awareness and execution of rescue! I wonder why he decided to jump in the water to begin with?? That's easy. It looks like a text book case of "Instant Idiot. Just Add Alcohol." Very well done, guys. Though, from the description, I wonder if he has any clue what you ...

Yes, the camera man picked up his camera after he hung up with 911. He would have footage of the last part of the tow and the hand off to the firefighters.

Re: Snorkeling in Seattle
There are snorkeling 31 sites listed on www.theperfectdive.com. Just check snorkeling in the difficulty section of the quick search. You could also check shore dive box to narrow it down to 23 sites.
It will give you enough information to help decide the best destination for you.
Thanks,

I am posting the details of a rescue my buddy and I were part of in case it helps someone else in the future. Luckily this effort was successful and the victim escaped more serious consequences. Spring Cleaning
The spring low tides are a great opportunity for beach clean-up in areas that are generally underwater. I was on a more industrial Seattle beach during a lunch break last week and was able to easily collect a bunch of plastic garbage from the location in a short amount of time. The trash would have ...

Any chance you can share some of the reported locations from the database in this thread?
Thanks,

Re: Halogen to LED conversion of a UK D8?
Really good points. The conversion would need to be really cheap to be worth it. It sounds like that isn't the case. Thanks for the great information.
What is your preferred primary light? Is it one you built? Do you build lights for others? Do you have a picture and cost?
Thanks,
-Chris

Re: Halogen to LED conversion of a UK D8?
Yes, it is a rechargeable with the 14 watt and 30 watt Xenon lamps and a 3-way switch to choose between brightness during the dive. Love the light but the yellow tint isn't great for the photos.

I will post some pictures tonight.

Halogen to LED conversion of a UK D8?
I have two Underwater Kinetics D8 rechargeable lights which I purchased in 98 and 2000. I love the brightness, durability and width of beam. I am not super fond of the yellow color of the light beam and have occasionally wanted a little longer burn time. I would love to be able to convert to LED wit...

Re: Never seen this before underwater!
One of my dive buddies found remains in cove 2 in waste deep water. They were also in a bag which was inside a box. It was not the same remains found which were referenced in the link above.
Thinking he had found a geo cache he opened the bag dumped it out and only then realized what it was.

Re: Don't Mind Me.....
I like the idea of bringing in rock instead of relocating existing rocks because of the critters already inhabiting the solo rocks.
