Re: Diver Health

Being a slightly older guy, :-) I work out with weights and aerobics, to be able to keep diving. It gets tougher, especially here in the cold water. I have had friends give up, because it became too difficult. I am in Portland. Let me know if you can schedule something here, as I would be interested...

Re: Dive Site Map for Salter's Point?

I think the NW Wreck Dives book by Scott Boyd and Jeff Carr has a underwater map in it. Basically IIRC go to the farthest south piling and drop down and you will find two boats. Swim north at around 25 fsw and you will find two more boats at the north end of the marina. There is another red boat a l...

Re: Dumbe question about under armour

I was thinking about wearing my Under Armour stuff under my wet suit when in the sound.... we will be doing our traditional day after thanksgiving dive and was thinking it will be nice to keep me warm Try it and let us know. Can't hurt, might help. In my opinion, it might add a bit more insulation ...

Re: Fun with Gnomes

Janna, I concede that your gnome associates are quite talented and versatile, but unfortunately a bit fragile. Leave no gnome behind. My condolences to the gnome family. The pirates must be dealt with. Arrrr Steven Ah, to the untrained eye, a gnome is a gnome is a gnome.... But if you look closer, y...

Re: curious Dogfish at Day Island Wall

He looks hungry. I usually just pack my macro lens on dives, but yesterday I decided to go wide angle instead. (I was thinking of the rather friendly Wolf Eels that hang out on Day Island Wall). Midway along the wall my buddy Andy was flashing his light at me to get my attention as there was a nice ...

Boy did I need that. I'm ready to have lots of fun and maybe learn something along the way. Come to a cl...

Amazing shots! Looks like pretty good vis, too. Thank the mussels. :-) Although they have been a economic disaster, they have cleaned the water. The Great Lakes used to murkier than Puget Sound. Zebra Mussels have scrubbed the water. On the shallower wrecks I have seen they were several inches deep...

Re: Fish are food, not friends if you're a bird! Fish ID Quiz...

Janna, I don't know what the fish are. Pretty good guesses so far! But I am thinking the birds are going to eat whatever they can find and fits in their mouth. They are not going to be too picky. I was canoeing on the Lewis today and there were baby salamanders floating on the surface of the water a...

Re: whites dry suit questions..?

If the neck seal has never been trimmed, make sure it is not too tight for you. You don't want to cut off blood flow to your cranium. If it has been trimmed, it could be loose and leak. Shoot, try it on, if it fits ok, you are good to go. Hopefully, you have taken a drysuit specialty, so you know ho...

I'm looking for one of your old, crappy, first stages, DIN or yoke, I'm going to be using it for boat inflation, so cheap is the rule here. Also looking for a smaller, say 19-30 cubic foot aluminum tank, in or out of hydro, cheap is the rule here too. Also going to be used for boat inflation. PM me...
