Re: In Memoriam: Lynne Flaherty (LCF, TSandM)
I haven't stopped by here in years, and I wish it wasn't under these circumstances. But, somehow, it seems appropriate to say goodbye to Lynne here. She was a pillar of the global diving community, a tremendously friendly person, and really filled with light. Kids and life pulled me away from diving...

Re: FS: Diving Concepts DS, undergarment, regs, tanks, fins,
I've been in family mode. Been holding on to this stuff, but just not getting used much. Better to give some people some good deals than have it in the garage gathering dust.spatman wrote:Not diving any more?
Wish I had some extra scratch, I'd snap up that 2g.

Re: Yes, Virginia, there is diving in Oregon
The swell might not be as bad as it sounds, all depending on the wave period. Is there an offshore buoy there reporting the wave period? (I could look, I'm being lazy...) Yes. There is. If you end up doing this, surf forecasting websites will be good for that. www.stormsurf.com has good resources a...

The folded/squishing/refolding part is all the metamorphic process. If it is 220 ma, that makes it Triassic in age, and likely part of a shallow seaway associated with Pangea, probably a slice of carbonate material that ultimately got accreted to the N.A. plate during the subduction event that crea...

I don't know why some of the limestone is grey with white veins (probably 75%) and then there's pure white with no veins at all. I have some pics of both I will try to post tonight. Grey is probably silt-you could be looking at what was originally a carboniferous silt deposit (think dead calcium ca...

Maybe corrosion in the holder increased resistance across it-creating heat. What was the fuse rated at? If this is Chad's old scooter, that is probably a fuse holder I installed years ago. Soldered and shrink wrapped in place? it is your old scooter, and it is the fuse holder you installed, your cr...

Thanks for the heads up. We were planning a dive there and maybe a dive or two at Cresent after. I haven't ever been up there so didn't know conditions this time year. Most good diving isn't really close to the good surf in Washington. And, when the good surf spots are working, you wouldn't want to be diving there.

My guess is, if you ask around here, you could find tanks to borrow/rent (some shops have steels) and a buddy or two to show you around.Scubanos wrote:A charter sounds like a great idea, thanks for the input. I wish it wasn't such a long drive, hard to fly with drysuits and steel tanks.

I know a diver that this very thing happened to her 3 years ago in cove 1, the fisherman on a boat, hooked her and brought her up too fast and she did indeed have to go to the chamber. Thanks guys, so far the I've just laid the scuba rigs in the bottom with neporene lifevests wrapped around them. It works fairly well until you hit a really big wave.
