Re: Getting together a group to buy a compressor

I don't do fills for friends, not because I am all that paranoid about liability but because its 30+mins of my time per tank. What, do you stand there and watch your compressor go round and round? :smt064 Go mow the lawn, change your oil, walk your dog or something. :) Even though I am selling my c...

Selling my Rix SA6

I have decided to sell my Rix but it needs some work. Believe it or not we don’t do as much diving here in Puerto Rico as we did in Seattle. Mostly because we are caving so much. Price: $2500 for all, you pay shipping. (if we use US mail we are looking at 7 boxes) SA6, 5HP 220 motor, motor controlle...

FS? Teledyne MixCheck HE/O2 Analyzer

I’ll be back in Seattle next month for Thanksgiving week. I have a Teledyne Mix Check helium /O2 analyzer. I think I got it about 6 or 7 years ago and I haven’t used it in the last 4 years. The O2 sensor needs replacing. I am thinking of selling it if there is any interest. I can bring it with me on...

I have one of those Bay View bottles. I found it in Lake Washington. I doubt its worth more than a few hundred if that. How did you come across $6000?

Re: Any Commercial Fishermen here that dive?

Ha, The law will probably allow you to eat the grunt sculpins maybe even 15 a day but it probably wont allow you to keep a few alive in an aquarium. If you do set up a cold water tank (I had one for 14 years and it was awsome) just realize that you should never put back a fish that you had in the ta...

Even if the valve was 99.9% blocked it will still read the exact pressure of the tank if you wait a few minutes.

That sure sounds like an empty tank (<200psi).

After you finish the book(s) then you should read these reports on J2 and Last Bash. I am so lucky that I get to go caving with a couple of those guys.

Re: Neah Bay on a bootstring

I've done Bachelor Rock in Freshwater Bay from shore. It not worth that swim IMHO. Kayak would be better, I think I'd practice once or twice before being off Seiku and unable to get back in. Kayak or Swim its a great dive. Just watch the current on the backside of the rock. (the backside is the bes...

Re: compressor yearly costs

Compressors don’t save you money… Bla Bla Bla… I have heard it all before. Mine has saved me a bundle of money. It’s a RIX SA6 and I have a home built re-packable filter. I repack the filter every 25 – 40 hours (at 80 degrees F and about 3CFM) and that costs less than $20 for the 13X, charcoal, and ...

Re: Long shot request...

Damn that must be cold water. We are using a Suunto compass. Not the same one for diving, this one is more accurate. The "sumps" we are going through are sumps sometimes but we can "duck under" them, or have a couple inches of airspace, or as a last resort we hold our breath and ...

Re: Long shot request...

Awsome :supz:

We have been mapping caves here in PR using a tape measure, compass, and clinometer. Do you use a clinometer or do you just note the change in depth? What about changing sumps? Our caves can have sumps that are considarably lower than the last sump.

Re: Complacency can hit us all, or why you shouldn't hurry

( And 20 minutes into the dive, which is my normal time for doing it on an uncomplicated, shallow dive on big tanks, I checked my gas . . . Am I reading this wrong? I am sorry if I am but even if you don't check your gas before you descend why wouldn’t you check it after 5 minutes? Don’t you check ...

"this does seem to be something that had to do with the rather high temps we were having" Its 90+ every day here and my gear sits in the back of an open pickup bed with a black liner. The water is also 84 degrees. If it is the warm temp that let you see the problem then consider it an earl...

Re: IP creep question

I regularly fill my tanks to 4000 and use the same reg. It’s also hot here. You should not have IP creep. Get the 1st overhauled. Do not use it until you verify there is no creep. I just went through this on one of my 6 regs. My reg with the IP creep is 6 years old and it’s never been overhauled. Un...

Re: overfilling steel tanks

My head temps get very hot with high He and High pressures. They don't change a bit pumping nitrox! You learn/get a feel for your system over time. It takes several minutes for a change on the input to be seen on the output. Say my tank has 1000psi of 32% and I want it full with 32%. I will start th...

Re: overfilling steel tanks

Is $10 worth of PVC really acurate enough for blending? Does it keep a constant mix? Or do you have to analyze at the end and add more air? Yes. This is very simple. All you need the PVC to do is mix the gas. To make Nitrox(or trimix) all you do is add in the extra O2 into the air before it goes in...
