I recommend you save your money on a drysuit certification... I'd guess 80-90% of the board doesn't have an official drysuit c-card. A good mentor will do a mot more for you, and all they cost is a beer here and there.
I agree on this. Welcome to board!

Welcome April! Monterrey diving is pretty....but its not so bad up here either. Cool thing is that you won't have to deal with the surge up here. :)

Re: WA DC, yes the other WA, any knowledge re diving schools....

Babs, I've got a couple of cave diving friends back there. I'll ping them and see what they say. Thanks so much Lynne! you might ask dwashbur. they were back in that area for awhile and said the diving sucked! I think the closest coastal city would be Virgina beach or Norfolk Thanks mucho! I'll pm ...

WA DC, yes the other WA, any knowledge re diving schools....

A really good buddy is hoping to get certified out there, and get in a few dives, before heading to the Great Barrier Reefs.....lucky bloke he is. Wondering if anyone on this site knew anything about schools/ instructors out there. Any thoughts/ comments appreciated.

Re: Pony Bottle....what is a good size 19, or 30?

After everyone's thoughts, doing the 40 makes sense. I just thought it would be a bit large for me as I'm not the biggest person. But, if I'm going to do it, might as well do it right. +1 for slinging it, which I'll have to figure out how to rig. Looks like Bdub's link on Eric's bottle "strippe...

Pony Bottle....what is a good size 19, or 30?

I'm thinking of getting a pony bottle and was wondering which size is better...an AL 19 or AL 30? My general dive profile is typically under 100ft. After doing some calculations, an AL 19 would take me up for 120 ft with a 1 minute deep stop at 60ft, 1 for OOA switch, going up ~30ft/minute, and 3 mi...

Seriously good people here, and even better divers. I've learned so much! :breakdance:

Stupid question...but why strip the bottles? Can it not be rigged with paint on it? or is it an aesthetic thing?

Re: Looking for Advice about spring straps

My spring straps have provided that "tight" fit. You want the tight fit, otherwise you might get unstrapped during a dive. Spring straps rock. :breakdance: Which type you get is limited to how your straps connect to the fin- eg pin? The XS scuba ones come with a variety of connectors, so s...

WTB: SMB and reel

Anyone have one laying around and want to sell? This will be my first SMB and reel. Ideally looking for a reel under 150' of line with a double ended clip, and a not too big, easy to deploy orange snatsausage.

Thanks for looking! Cheers, Babs :breakdance:
