Re: Hawaii -- dive light needed? Short or long hose?
Thanks for the offer Calvin! I have 2 backups, both 3w LEDs- I guess I can have a backup to my backup in HI. Mantas sound awesome! Miss diving with sockmonkey. Stupid question- I have a long hose set-up, is it better to switch it to a short hose set-up? Staying in Kanaapali. Any dive shops or dive b...

Hawaii -- dive light needed? make a difference?
Curious whether I should bring a dive light to Hawaii. Does it make a difference? Planning to do rec boat dives during the day. Thanks.

Re: Jelly stings
Carmex is my friend after the dive when in the water with small jellies that hit me in the exposed face area. Note, I'm pretty allergic to any stings or bites from things.

I saw this with some neighbors, and one scuba dove alot in West Seattle, including the Coves, for a few years before giving up scuba....we were kinda surprised how exactly bad it was. We knew it was bad, but not exactly this bad. Ekk...PCB soup. :shootself: :slap: This was a great programing on PBS....

Re: What to do about the silt
In fact, an article for NWDN about propulsion techniques and silting might be something Rick wouldn't at all mind printing, and since I can't dive these days, I could take on writing one. Anybody got some good photographs of good trim, frog kicking and modified flutter? Hey...check out these links....

Re: Switching to a backplate/wing
A friend of mine wanted to buy a single tank setup, but he wouldn't even sell it to her until she provided him with the information he felt he needed to be sure she was getting the right wing. I love that about Tobin. Tobin is totally awesome like that! Though I wasn't the friend, Tobin didn't want...

Re: Switching to a backplate/wing
It you should see if you can borrow a bp/wing from folks to see if you actually like it. I have say, the lack of bulk and streamlining factor is much better than typically bcd. I like my deep sea supply bp/wing with additional weights screwed in the back. Tobin at deep sea supply is super helpful. :...

Re: Cove 2 Diver Incident...
I dont think that it was an accidental loss of weights. The pouch that Bob brought up was a side weight bag from an integrated BC and the belt was a Seasoft 16 pounder. I'm not sure how much weight was in the bag but it wasn't light. Either it was one guy with a ton of weight or both divers ditched...

I got totally loopey narc'ed!!
It was a class dive on Saturday afternoon and I got totally happy loopey narc'ed. REALLY, REALLY LOOPEY, narc'ed. The feeling of uber good drunkedness. I started feeling it about 114'. In retrospect, I probably shouldn't have kept going deeper or staying deeper for another few minutes since it seeme...

Re: Is this a crazy amount of weight?
Yes, it is a newer tank-- a mid-pressure 85-- the same tank I rented from them before I owned tanks. It's basically a steel 80 with more air or +.anndornfeld wrote:ljjames wrote:Is it a newer LP steel tank or is there the possibility its an older 72?
I would guess that it's a newer tank - it was an rental.

Re: Is this a crazy amount of weight?
This is kookie!!! So Ann's gear consists of a recreational bcd [not bp/wing] with a steel mid-pressure 85 tank. I handed her a total of 13lbs, not including the 3 we cam-strapped on at the beginning of the dive in addition to the lbs she added 5ish?? I believe she has been using the same tank on her...
