Re: Cheap Tropical Shore Diving?
It all depends on what you're into. I like the big island. 2 Step has a a really nice reef fire about 75-100 yards that drops from 5ft to 35 ft. After that it goes pretty deep with a nice wall of coral. Occasional tiger shark and lots of pretty fish. When I was there in May I had over 100 feet of vi...

Re: Gear
I have a Hog 32lb wing with their aluminum BP. Don't go less than a 30lb wing. The amount of weight on our rigs here in PNW needs the bigger lift capacity. Steel tank, backplate (SS or AL), regs, etc all add up quick and your wing may not be able to float if you remove it in the water. I dive with a...

Re: Gear
Look at a backplate and wing. They are very customizable to your exact needs and aren't full of floaty material like jacket or back inflate BCDs. Seaskin dry suits run about 1k and are fully custom fit at that price point. Regs are often coming up for sale on scubaboard.com and once serviced they wo...

3442s? Pics of the neck stamps and overall condition of the tanks may help prospective buyers. If they were 119s I'd be all over it

Great dive with Kingpin tonight! No six gills but we did see an awesome rat fish on the way back up. Splashed at about 745 and back to the truck around 830.

I'll be there. Planning on a long dive with my hp 120. If anyone else wants to float patiently at ~100fsw with me they are more than welcome. I'll probably splash around 630-645.

Arly (sp?) is an amazing guy and superb tech. His prices are fair and he won't upsell just to get a sale. If they weren't 45 min away on a good day I'd do a lot more business with them.

Re: Lighthouse Dive Center Tacoma?
They moved out to UP in July ish. Bigger parking lot. Better layout for the store. Fewer vagrants. Other than being way the funk out there it is an improvement.

Re: Dive buddy's/ groups
Check out YSS Dive in hoodsport. RS Scuba in Puyallup has monthly shop dives. I believe underwater Sports in Tacoma had weekly dives. Lots of opportunities of you join the associated Facebook pages. It would also help to know what area you're in because a 2 hour drive is not always an option.

Re: Travel Insurance
Pretty sure that DAN covers all the extra medivac costs and a host of additional things with their basic or enhanced membership. You get a chamber ride and a few more goodies if you elect to get their basic insurance. All in you're looking at about $80 for a year of insurance for all dive related an...

RS Scuba had a shop dive there on Saturday. I'll give them a call in the AM to see if any of the new open water divers lost one.

How was the viz? I'm going to Redondo Saturday morning. First dive near high tide so hoping the bloom will be above the deep line and we'll see some 6 gills.

Depending on what transpired the vessel or vehicle may belong to the insurance company that paid out a claim on it. All kinds of weird little loop holes to keep you from keeping what was retrieved.

Hopefully I will. Once my wife can get back in the water she'll hopefully be joining me as well. Right now I'm diving with RSS on their monthly shop dives and occasional shore as the wife allows me lol. Now I just need to improve my camera skills or gear.

I've been lurking for awhile now and finally had reason to reply to a post. Been diving off and on for 20 years now. PNW, Virginia coast, Guam and Hawaii have seen my bubbles.
