As I search the internet there are way too many brands of gear to decide. Being a newbie how am I to know which brands to avoid and which to pursue? I am sure there are certain brands to consider: Scubapro, Mares but which ones should I avoid considering? I am speaking of BCD, Reg, computer, suits. ...

Now a related question. Best shops for gear? I am in Lynnwood and have been to Lighthouse, UWS in Edmonds and Seattle and Discount Divers on Lake Union. Any other shops to look at? Any to avoid?

Really...does color of wetsuit and or bcd matter when you are underwater? Wife relayed message that a guy was diving with his wife and they had bought new wetsuits...his was yellow and scared away the fish or whatever they were looking for on a guided dive.
