Redondo

Larry and I dove Redondo last night and our second dive lasted more than 80 minutes. I kind of felt like I might be a bit damp but there was no way I could have a leak and still be totally warm!? Surfaced after 80+ minutes and because it was kind of cold, we stripped our gear before getting out of o...

Re: Slugs and crabs and other things

Six days of great dive weather in PT? That's got to be a record for this time of year isn't it?
Beautiful pictures as usual! Love the purple (ish) nudibranch!

Re: Life in the Muk

Plus a stubby squid so a total of 15! The one in the geodome was the biggest and they dropped dramatically in size from there, but indeed 15! Got a pic of each one.

Thanks! It was certainly one of the best dives at the T-dock we've had.

This is the 1st we've seen at Mukilteo though I understand there's at least one more at the same depth there.

Life in the Muk

Dove the T-dock last night. First half hour was a snoozer. Then we hit the jackpot! A total of 14 octopus, a stubby squid, 2 tiny juvenile wolf eels that we hadn't come across before, 5 different species of nudibranchs, a baby skate, a snailfish, a horned shrimp and last but certainly not least - a ...

Re: I couldn't stand it...

Glad to hear that you're out and about; that salty fresh air heals many wounds! We hear that water therapy is wonderful - maybe we can set you up with a snorkel for now. Baby steps my friend, but steps none the less! It won't be long and the mods will have to give you a new smiley without the cane! ...

Re: T dock 12/28/11

Larry and I went to visit octozilla at the upside down skiff and found him clinging to the side. Larry looked up inside the boat and there's another octopus (possibly a future octomomma?) hanging out there. Octozilla didn't seem to like him looking under the boat at his girl and started to work his ...

Re: Camera housing desiccants

Sounds like a good idea... I've been using moisture munchers without any problems and have an oil-filled space heater that I set them on for a couple of days to turn them back to their nice blue color when they start to pink up on me... Fiber from the shamwow could've been the problem but the shamm...

Re: Camera housing desiccants

It was definitely salt water. I've never had the fogging before with a leak, but it was definitely salt water! The camera was so with no hint of a problem that I closed up the housing and figured that I'd add more Sham-Wow or desiccants later... There is no way any desiccant could have sucked up and...

Camera housing desiccants

Dusty2 recommended that I put pieces of Sham-Wow into my camera housing where I could. Recently while on a dive trip, my camera was "fogging up". When I surfaced, I quickly removed the camera in hopes that I didn't have a leak in the housing. The camera was perfectly dry so I closed up the...

Re: Couple of unknowns.....

Thanks for the ID Greg -I was starting to think it was a illegal alien immigrant toad fish! We're going to the Soccoro islands soon and I thought I'd have to catch it and take it with me and what with the cost of extra luggage you probably saved me a fortune! :taco:

Is this a type of sculpin? Sure looks like a Caribbean Toadfish.

And is this a deformed White Lined Dirona? Or something else? Sorry for the poor photos, I was using the wide angle lens and couldn't get the big thing close to the nudi in the rocks.

Re: Strange things in the jellyfish galaxy

lol - I saw the object of the white dot but I thought you were serious about an underwater critter hitchhiker. I saw the almost perfect vision of the (I won't say) with the white spot on it's shoulder right off but was looking for a "REEF" type critter from you. :smt064

Re: Need expert advice...that's YOU guys!!

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned the Casio. I know many divers have used this one; I still have my old one for back-up. The Casio is a buy-&-go camera, it's small, needs no external strobe (if you use the camera housing diffuser). Fits into my drysuit pocket. It's a really nice little cam...

Nice video work Derek. That camera is really impressive; it's so small, and yet really takes nice videos. Glad to see you on the board. It was really nice meeting and diving with you and Robert and we hope to see you guys again soon. Nootka Sound? Prince Rupert? The Canadian possibilities are endles...

Larry and I went over to Port Townsend taking Rich up on his promise for great currents. He delivered - great currents and great weather! Saw several really big GPOs and a couple of juvenile wolf eels, so many grunt sculpins we lost count, and most every type of nudibranch. Thanks Rich for the use o...
