Re: Awesome finds at TTN!
Really? I've seen several pictures. I think they were of Pacific Cods... They could've been Tomcods.

Shrimp IDs
Found this guy at Redondo among some Barnacles. I'm tentatively IDing it as a Barred Shrimp Heptacarpus pugettensis IMG_2952.JPG This one, I just don't know. We found it in a clam shell right next to a shed skin. Maybe the skin belonged to this guy, maybe it didn't, but I can't find any transparent ...

Awesome finds at TTN!
So for the first time in, like three or four months, dad and I FINALLY got in the water, heading down to check things out at TTN. It was a rather interesting dive, as we're both incredibly out of practice as well as adjusting our equipment. Dad was diving his first dive in a new suit and I had to re...

Almost looks to me like he's just a bit dirty. Or... could it be possible he has something growing off his side?

I agree with KTB's assessment. I've seen those worms before too and got the same ID.

Re: Interesting nudis
Yeah a nice little trio of Cucumbers there. They must have been spooked by something, cause they're completely drawn in and squished up.
Also, what's that they're clustered around? Anemones?

They should be put on 'hold' permanently and be buried in a deep dark corner of the sea.

grats chenari! does this mean you'll be able to stop my dogs from running off down the beach like brainless fluffheads? Lol, I can't even stop Jet from doing that. We'll see if they teach us how to give dogs brain surgery in the college. :neener: Does your program include room and board? This one d...

Night time at Redondo
Went for a night dive at Redondo tonight. It only lasted 31 minutes, as mom's drysuit was leaking and she was very cold by the end. But that gave us a chance to find tons of cool stuff. One thing we were fascinated by were tiny little Plainfin Midshipman babies frolicking in the kelp and even in mid...

Re: Spotted Aglaja?
Wow that is amazing. I never would've guessed they had flaps like that. We thought it was some kind of swimming sea slug or something. Thanks a lot, Greg! ^_^ And wonderful shot, Guth. I honestly have never seen those flaps before. Your pic really lets them stand out. That's contest material there. ...

Spotted Aglaja?
Went for a dive at Redondo today and found this little guy in one of the reflector piles just floating around. We were really thrown by its look, but the coloring and the tail seem to point like a brightly lit arrow to Spotted Aglaja. Am I right? IMG_2724.JPG IMG_2728.JPG IMG_2731.JPG IMG_2631.JPG I...

Re: A good year for Octos
It is indeed a good year for octo's. There are more GPO's at Hudson than I have ever seen there before. Hope that's a good sign for the future. Bad for the crab population though. Lots of evidence of that around there dens. Lol, last I saw, crabs weren't exactly on the endangered list. In fact, I'd...

Re: Whidbey Island Critters
Yeah Red Irish Lords are funny when they're protecting their nests. I was trying to get a pic of one once and the little guy actually lunged forward and bit my finger. XD Didn't hurt, just got startled more than anything. Awesome shots of the expectant mother, Jan! That's the fattest I've ever seen ...

Were I to guess why, I'd say maybe breeding ground? A lot of those Ratfish look awfully fat to me. Especially that one on the bottom.

Judging on the sheer amount of how much Jan finds, I would have to say all of the above.Tubesnout23 wrote:Have you a wicked mermaid fairy that follows you underwater? or maybe it is because you dive like a maniac? or you are fish whisperer under the disguise of a scubadiver?
