For your dive planning the first week in Oct looks awesome at PT! Late afternoon and early evening the 8th and 9th should be great. If your able to do the weekdays thursday and friday also look good.

Re: Point Hudson
Yep, ebbs will get ya at Hudson. It's pretty simple really. If the tide is coming in it will have little effect because it is flowing north/south past the point. However on outgoing the point becomes the fulcrum of all that water trying to get out of the bay and around the point heading north. Curre...

Re: Pacific Spiny Lumpsuckers
I noticed a big drop off in the nudie populations the last couple of years but it could be cyclic because it seems to be feast or famine with some of them. Things like clowns that at one time were everywhere got to be very spotty the last couple of years and the shaggies are much less common too. Bo...

Good to hear you like your new light! Glad to hear your trip went well. Looking forward to seeing some pix. F-1's have very generous foot pockets so I would think a size large would work for you.

Re: New Fins
Jess, I highly recommend the Hollis F-1's I dove nothing but splits till I got my F1's and I would never go back. I was nothing but photography and I loved the effortless control they gave me! They come standard with the spring straps and that too is something I would never dive without!

Re: In Memoriam: Lynne Flaherty (LCF, TSandM)
It seems Lynne has helped me out one last time. I have been agonizing over my decision to quit diving for several months now and now I know I made the right decision and should not be tempted to lapse. If this can happen to Lynne I know that the little voices steered me in the right direction and th...

Re: In Memoriam: Lynne Flaherty (LCF, TSandM)
Here I sit shocked and dismayed. A 72 year old man with tears streaming down my cheeks that I am unable to stop. I have lost many in my life but the really special people always seem to get underneath the veneer and crack the facade. Lynne was one of those who was always a friend and yet asked nothi...

Re: NITROX problems
There are so many factors involved that you should not be trying to split hairs. This is all guesstimating to start with. Each diver is different and the tables are only numbers of a chart that is based on "normal" What is normal and who is normal? All of the chart numbers are very conserv...

Re: Just bought a drysuit at the UWS Divers Fair.
for anyone using rock boots I would highly recommend you consider the lace in boot zippers like the military uses. They make donning and doffing your rock boots way easier and quicker. I used them for years and they were the only way I would do rock boots

Re: Just bought a drysuit at the UWS Divers Fair.
Ah Ha! new info! I didn't get the part where you said the boots were way to big. Boots that are too big are a big deal! they are dangerous in that you not only have control problems you take the risk of them slipping off and leaving you in a very dangerous position. Fighting an inversion is one thin...

If you order from them you MIGHT get it in six weeks or so! They have a terrible track record! Plus it needs machining to fit. They all do.kdupreez wrote:http://www.dx.com/p/5-cree-r2-1200-lume ... b8W3hNVhBc

Re: Just bought a drysuit at the UWS Divers Fair.
Hog F1's really help. I used to wear ankle weights before buying them and found that I didn't need the weights afterwards. not to mention I really like the control and extra thrust they give you. I know Tacoma Scuba can do the change to socks but I am not sure they would want to tackle the tailoring...

Re: Just bought a drysuit at the UWS Divers Fair.
Don't try to get to light with a suit that has loose legs. Better to be a tiny bit heavy then to be chasing the bubble all day. best to do weight drills with an almost empty tank and in shallow water. If you can hold position in 10' with 500psi then you are properly weighted! It will all come togeth...

"It helps engrain the switch"
It does indeed. there is no substitute for muscle memory. By definition in a panic situation your brain isn't hitting on all cylinders so practice makes it automatic. Dave I have a silicone necklace that you are welcome to.

For those that are interested the 24th, 25th and 26th are as good as it gets for point Hudson.
