What happened?

Found this 3 legged crab at Mukilteo; it looked healthy but for the lack of legs. It was eating with the little feeder claw things at the front of the carapace. Any thoughts on what might have happened to the other legs? And secondly, does anyone know what the black thing in it's mouth is in the sec...

Re: Cockscomb ID help

Tom - we figured it was a cockscomb - we have just never seen the coloring before, leading us to our question of species.

Thanks Rich - we thought is was pretty special coloring too! It was cool to not only see it but to see it out in the open for a bit.

Cockscomb ID help

Larry found this guy while diving at the T-Dock Sunday night. We've looked through all the books and it looks similar to the slender cockscomb but with some definite differences including color variations. Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

Re: Happy New Years Day at the Muk

Bric - we'll have to get together and do a dive this year. Thanks for the nice comments on the pics, though of course they are nothing compared to the work you're turning out these days!! I'm used to this group responding so quickly on lost articles that I figured I'd give this a shot. If I don't he...

Happy New Years Day at the Muk

Did just one dive this afternoon at the T-dock; was surprised to see so many critters out at this time of year...... Handful of octopus, a juvenile wolf eel, and a stubby squid as well as some of the usuals. Larry lost a 1.5 lb ankle weight if anyone happens upon it....please let us know. Happy divi...

Re: security camaera's

Thanks. We considered the game cameras but figured that the video w/dvr and the ability to go online to view them is more suitable for our needs. We have some really bad neighbors and it's time to be able to see what they're up to when they use the easement across the back of our property. Jeff - wh...

security camaera's

Does anyone know someone who is proficient in security system's? We are wanting to have wireless camera's along the private road that run's thru our property to deter / catch people dumping garbage, vandalism, etc. We're not interested in a security company like ADT where you have to sign a monitorin...

Re: Mystery Worm

I checked in the Marine Life of the Pacific Northwest book and it appears to be a giant fleshy scaleworm (Hololepida magna).
Could be wrong but it sure looks similar.

Re: What is this?

He/she didn't move at all, no matter how close I got - maybe it's still there. Safety stop depth just below the aquarium. Redondo seems to consistantly have the odd ones, that's why we like diving there so much. You never know what you'll see; though a six-gill has not crossed our paths as of yet. T...
