Re: 2017, Wrapping Up - # of Dives? Highlights? Lowlights?
Wow... congratulations on Eagles Nest that is one of the top 5 hardest caves and deadliest to dive in the world Not really, its just deep so you really rack up deco fast. We spent an hour at 220ft, 3 hrs of deco to get out was super boring. I did the easiest dive there, the lockwood tunnel, with an...

Re: Atomic Cobalt computer issues
I sent an unit to Kurt that I bought used, was well out of warranty. Was fixed for free in a week and sent back to me with a case. (I think it was the recalled battery spring issue, but not positive). I'm certain you will never get 1 week turnaround and free service on a Suunto. I had one years ago,...

Or you could upgrade to a shearwater perdix and avoid all those exciting (and annoying) dives.
Made in BC, local warranty service, and you will find no history of complaints about them cause their track record is stellar. Worth the money

Re: Three Tree NO NO's
Seems like someone either complained or public works just happened to be there - so it sure seems to have bothered someone. Playing nice and not taking up more room than you genuinely require really does help avoid conflicts. Canopies sure seem like "nice to haves" vs "requirements&qu...

Re: Three Tree NO NO's
Setting up tents and canopies in a tiny residential street that has not been particularly friendly to divers for years sounds like a way to piss off the already less than welcoming neighbors. Can't say I blame them for calling public works or the police. There are ugly homeless tents and canopies al...

Re: 2017, Wrapping Up - # of Dives? Highlights? Lowlights?
Dives = 46 Highlights = finally doing Eagle's nest, just over a 5 hour dive swimming in Ginnie Springs (noodle legs), 9 dives in the great lakes including the Morell Lowlights = 3 hours of deco to get out of Eagle's nest, not being able to get the right gas for a new Tallahassee cave 2018 = more cav...

I would do a weight check at 6-10ft with a near empty tank before changing anything else. I.e. confirm 44lbs is the right amount.

there is no faster way to get this killed than to pair it with a marine protected area (MPA) - even the non-fishing hunters will lobby like crazy against even the mere perception of reducing any kind of hunting/fishing access

Re: Call to Action - ThThTh 11/9
For all practical purposes DNR owns all aquatic lands below the low tide level. When a marina wants to install a pier or a float, or a wastewater treatment plant wants to put in an outfall, an aquaculture farm wants to put in a net pen, or WSDOT wants to build a ferry terminal - DNR does not sell th...

There is very limited diving in Indian Arm, its a deep fjord, no currents, only a couple access points, and limited life.
The area around Horseshoe Bay (including Whytecliff) is much more interesting.

Its going down in a drysuit because there's less shivering. For my last comparison (many years ago), go try diving Salt Creek in a wetsuit, you will never go through a tank faster. Its damn cold out there!

I would stick with the Apeks you have, none of the listed will perform better than them anyway.
If you really just want something new, the scubapro or atomics would be my choice - but I have a preference for piston regs.

Re: Dalco wall
140-180-5000? Matters not to me I won't be going that deep anyway. 130 feet is as deep as I care to dive. In the tropics it's still good vis and wildlife abounds. In the sound I think most of the things I enjoy are much shallower than 130 feet. its a scalloped sandstone wall without as much life as...

Its a near vertical sandstone wall, the top is around 40ft and the bottom around 140ft. About the only choice to make is what depth. You only want to do it at high slack.

Actually Colorado wins in that department. Not a insignificant number of divers, and barely any in state diving at all.McGlencoe wrote:It may be true that WA has that high of divers per cap, but I bet we also have the highest divers per cap that don't dive in their own state..LoL!
