Re: Xen bottom timer

My Xen is hands down the best gauge I've ever used. It's been a champ on tech dives as well with the stopwatch function. I have really loved how easy to read it is at depth in the darkness while not being too bright all at the same time. So far I've logged 25 fairly long dives on it, no battery chan...

Re: Re: drysuit gloves: opinions anyone?

I have the DC rings with the wrist seals intact, and use Deep See neo gloves. Good mobility and they're nice and warm. In the summertime I've forgotten to wear liners and my hands were just fine! No problem gettin them on but for some reason my right one has become a pita to break loose. I use the ...

Re: Sunday dive at Cove2 - and maybe some BBQ'ing action!

Koos knows how to throw an impromptu party and make everyone feel welcome! There were even some folks who didn't know about the shindig ahead of time who joined in. It was great seeing so many folks coming out for some socializing and diving. Vis was crap, but regardless, my buddy and I managed to c...

Thanks, y'all! It was a fun back-and-forth with the host, Robert Krulwich. Always great to engage with fellow admirers of the amazing animals we have out here. And hey, "guy named D", you did bring the celebratory beverages, so I guess you can stay on the team... ;) As a result of the blog...

Re: Tip's to keep me from looking like a dweeb... (THZ)

Seems like I remember the 6-gill drop happening the week after the dive where SOMEONE tried to peel their new-scooter-toting buddy off on the Monolith. :-({|= You did say that you wanted to see the Monolith!! That 6 gill encounter is in my top 5 dive moments. It WAS truly awesome. Um, the one that ...

Re: Tip's to keep me from looking like a dweeb... (THZ)

Helpful tip of the day: Anything that happens underwater while swimming, happens much faster when scootering. The buoyancy thing takes time and is really easy to fail to compensate for. Particularly if you're distracted. I once found myself dropping down in front of a 6-gill that we'd be following ...

Re: Local Wreck diving on Travel Channel tonight

Scott, thanks for the heads up on the air date (it helped my husband remember to set the DVR since I was still trekking back from Canada) and thanks y'all for the nice words about the video... it was a challenging shoot for a variety of reasons and so I'm mostly glad that there was good footage for ...

Re: Weekend of shipwreck exploration!

We are indeed back on the grid. Wow, what a weekend! I'm going on about 3.5 hours of sleep right now so the short version of the weekend is that while we did not find the target we were hunting, we did experience a fantastic weekend of diving. The target is located wayyyyy out and swell/weather only...

Greetings! I put together a demo reel of sorts to use for a variety of purposes. Yes, it is a bit promotional because that's what a demo reel is for... but since most of it features our home-grown favorite critters, I thought I'd share it here with you. A ginormous thanks to Lundy and "Rapture ...

Re: I need a "sure thing" GPO sighting

Sweet, glad to hear it. Bob and I found two new GPO dens at C2 today, one of which is in a very odd and unlikely location where I'm sure people swim over him daily without realizing. I just love how fortunate we are to have such cool critters in our "local mud holes." its not too unlikely...

Re: Need suggestions on Wetsuits

Hi all, I am headed to the Philippines to dive for 2 weeks and with repetitive dives, I am trying to decide which wetsuit to buy. I know I am getting a 5 mm for I get cold and even in the 84 degree water, I know that after 4-5 dives a day and the compression of the suit, I'll get cold if I bring my...

Ray and Ben are truly stand-up guys. While this story should surprise me, knowing them, it actually does not. They're just all-around good people.

Awesome news about the scoot and that you could hop right back in and go diving!

Found fin(s)

So, in a rather strange ironic twist, I came across a fin during my dive yesterday. Looked like it'd been lost rather recently, maybe the same day given its location and condition. I say it's ironic because it is the identical make, model, and color of another fin I found at the same site, nearly id...

A Different Kind of Blue Water Dreamin'

Last week I was fortunate enough to visit one of my favorite places in the world: Quintana Roo, MX. I traveled with a great group of gals and we enjoyed a full week of superb cave diving down there. On one of the days, I snuck off and dove with a friend of mine who is an active instructor and explor...

Re: Gear Stolen, South Everett

I just got off the phone with my insurance provider. Fortunately I've never filled a claim before and they seem to be treating me very respectfully. They will probably (after I prove I owned all of this stuff) cut me a check for the used/depreciated value of each item. Then they *should* cut me a c...

Nature vs Man

This morning I was out at Cove 2 doing a dive... just for fun, shooting a bit of film. I happened across a GPO den, which is always cool. This one happened to have a soon-to-be-mom and her clutch, which is always more than cool. The scene was made less cool as a realization came to bear as I made my...

Diving The Harpoon

Lake visibility was surprisingly excellent yesterday as we went for a dive on the Harpoon. Just a short little film from our dive on the Harpoon yesterday. The Harpoon crashed into Lake Washington in 1947, augering in nose-first into the silt. The siltline comes up to the cockpit and engines. The or...
