Re: Anyone up for the canal?
Darn it. Any other time and I'd be all over it. Just got back from 2 weeks in Bonaire and I leave for a week in Hawaii next Monday - just can't snag the time off. Thanks for posting! After my last fiasco with an exploding drysuit I really want to try and actually have a successful dive! Well, Tom, ...

Anyone up for the canal?
I find myself with several days off next week and without a dive buddy. If anyone wants to dive Sunday- Wednesday out of Triton Cove to any of the 5 dive spots with a short boat ride. I like to leave ramp around 8:00 so we don't have to worry about wind, which usually comes up in the afternoon. I've...

Re: Thoughts about this? (hood canal/the knuckle)
I dive flagpole a lot and remember when the house sold to these people. I was told the story by someone that knew them what was going to happen about the dive school and all the money staying in Oregon. Most of the weekends have between 6-20 divers there. It worries me about the septic system too as...

0 waves,0 wind, and oh yeah 0 vis! It was a beautiful day on the canal today. Went to flagpole, thought it was going to be fantastic as the surface was clear, the water was like glass, not a breeze blowing, sun was out and it was warm!... THEN we went down the anchor line and once we got past 35' I ...

back with my wide angle
Went back to flagpole today but this time I had my wide angle. I was hoping to find something good, like octopus out and about like they were last week. I wasn't disappointed! By the end of the first dive I had found a rather large and healthy octopus apparently guarding the den of another octopus t...

Re: flag pole buoy its back
The only line that I know of is the one right in front of the Scuba class house and it only goes out to about 50' of water, not all the way to the buoy.

Re: Wavy shore dive exits
I remember the day we were at Monastery beach there were a couple of guys diving down there from Seattle that didn't know what California waves were all about and got slammed into the beach, losing their hight end dive camera set up Nikonos v as I remember, (not giving up any hint of my age or how l...

Re: Wavy shore dive exits
We learned to dive in Monterey, Ca. and part of the class was at monastery beach and we had to learn in order to pass the class how to do the monastery crawl in rough waves.... where there are always heavy waves. Deflate, hug the bottom as tight as you can and crawl as fast as you can, no stopping. ...

Things are starting to become more lively at flagpole. There were squid and stubbies eggs everywhere. Amazing amounts of fish and more wolf eels there than I have seen in 10 years. Seems like every hole I look in has an eel looking back. A few octopus sitting on their eggs. Still no major nudi sitti...

Still not much happening at Flagpole and elephant wall. A few new bright red octopus have moved in to old dens. They seem to be real healthy. A couple pairs of wolf eels with huge balls of eggs, but they are so far back in the cave it is hard to get a picture of them. Vis past 10' was probably 30'. ...
