I think the guy in the video tried to sell me some speakers from the back of his van in a shopping center parking lot last week.

Re: Deception Pass - Sunday, Feb. 13
Phil gave a briefing of the site and positioned the boat, waiting for the right time to hit slack. My understanding of the briefing was that we would get in, get pushed one way, the current would slow, turn, and then we would get pushed back. Phil said to expect about a 30 minute dive and in my min...

Well done on the very cool sub-adult Yelloweye sighting Georgia! It was fun to wave a hello to you today.WylerBear wrote:Here's a few of mine from today. I also did not get any from the dive in the Pass. I had my camera but was being tossed so much, I never got a chance to take a picture.

I will gladly show you around some of the good buggin spots. I have no problems running the boat out to the reefs or wrecks either. My way of burrying the hatchet over that spat we got into a while ago over Lingcod hunting... I think it was. Would be really cool to get together for some diving, and...

Re: Spear Gun or Hawiian Sling?
Which is better for cold water (Fat Dryglove Fingers)? As an experienced diver, new to spear fishing? Has anyone ever used a Travel Pole Spear? After a short search on the computer I think the Travel Pole Spear would be good for a first timer, like myself. Does anyone have one I could use (before I...

Re: Sund rock, 226 feet deep, 162min.. All on 9cu ft of gas
I could actually hear my blood pulsing through my inner ear Ugh - I get that a fair bit these days when I'm at depth. The first time it happened I was fairly shallow and it stuck - didn't go away for about 14 months. Every night when I was trying to go to sleep I could hear my pulse super loud - su...

Re: DNR Lands Commissioner on artificial reefs on the radio
We observe. We study. Our collective knowledge expands. But our self discipline has not evolved with our understanding. We will knowingly self destruct as we debate issues such as this until there are no opportunities left. In the end we'll look back and say "Now that we're properly educated w...

Re: DNR Lands Commissioner on artificial reefs on the radio
it baffles me that NOAA has to prove the obvious, that Orca abundance is link to Chinook numbers (duh) Perhaps the situation is more complicated than one might assume. See I don't think "proof" is necessary to act in a conservationist manner. Proof is not really the goal - it's understand...

Re: Best practices for optimal foot warmth?
The best way to keep your extremeties warm is to make sure they're getting good perfusion (blood flow). Wrist seals should not be so tight as to restrict flow to the hands, and anything strapped around the lower legs tightly (ankle weights, dive knife straps etc) will not be helping your feet. A fai...

Keystone today - beautiful day out. 10' at the pilings and 15' at the end of the breakwater. Kelp Greenling dads are on duty, GPOs were all home in their dens and there were a number of PS King Crab babies trying to blend in with the orange social ascidians. Visibility through my beer at Toby's was ...

TJ they're pretty common in your area - find any water access point and make a few night dives - you'll likely stumble across a few - especially if you look for broken shell substrate. Actually, I'm thinking that might be the best way to conduct your experiment - find some young octopuses in their n...

Re: For all you Snow Junkies
Great place to have a get-away - the condo would make a great base during ski season, big game season (perfect for the high buck hunt with the highway still open) and if you're into motorcycling it doesn't get much better than highway 20. I hear that conditions are good over there right now - last y...

Anyone else heading up to the slopes anytime soon? I get up to Baker pretty regularly. Re: Dive Computers
A few thoughts that might help you some... I don't think there's any point in buying a computer that won't handle nitrox these days. In fact, while you may not think you'll ever need it, there are computers available that handle multiple gases (in one dive) that really don't cost any more than the s...

That's a really cool piece of gear, but what makes it especially neat is that it was your grandfather's. Did you ever see him using it? Or do you have a photo of him in his gear pre/post dive? That would be an awesome thing to share with your family. Sure hope you can track down parts. Even if you c...

Re: Dive log app
At some point I'm going to be looking for a new dive computer. I'd like it to handle (at least) two gases per dive, offer a gauge mode, and I want to be able to download the dive data to my Macintosh and parse it using some software that's inexpensive and stable (presently I'm keeping an old laptop ...

Their table is bogus David (both are ~40cuft yet the swing from full to empty is 3lbs on one and 2.2lbs on the other) - see if you can get specs directly from the manufacturer. I suppose I'd be looking for the one which is closest to neutral (but still slightly negative) when empty and packaged with...

Bob, That's a Blackbelly Eelpout I believe. And the ones at Redondo often seem to have tumors. Hmmmm. I wonder what that means about what's coming down the hill and out of the pipe there. Georgia do you think they might be worms rather than tumors? I know that some of the fish that I harvest have w...
