Mentioned this elsewhere, but again, standing offer of $2500 still on the table. :)

In years past it seems to begin showing up in late July and be most visible through most of August and into September.

Happy diving!

Wild West on Nat Geo Wild

Hey y'all... Just an FYI that local PNW footage from Seainggreen Productions will be featured on this Sunday's episode of "Wild West" on Nat Geo Wild. It's been enormous fun collaborating with Nat Geo on this project, and I'm looking forward to the next production slated for 2014. Look for...

Re: How do you transport your gear?

I dove out of a MINI Cooper for four years. When I sold the car last year the buyer could not believe that it looked so new on the interior after four years especially since the car had seen +/- 350 dives. :) My magic trick was to use a rubber maid bin as described above to hold suit, fins, mask, li...

Re: Southern Thailand

By "southern Thailand" what area do you mean? Phuket/Krabi or elsewhere? Just got back from diving Phuket (living in Singapore a fair chunk of the year these days). The boat situation was not what I'd call optimal and there are a LOT of dive boats going out every day of the week... but the...

Re: Lovely little octo babies!

Baby octopuses are amazing. The night I was lucky enough to watch a GPO hatch was one of the most awe-inspiring dives I've ever done. And you didn't have to be freezing cold, or do any deco, to watch yours! Do you recall the date and what time of night you saw the hatch? That would be useful inform...

Re: EEZYCUT Trilobite line cutter

I guess after I spent my second 10 thousand bucks on gear, I kind of really did start thinking in "scuba units"- where 1 SU= $100. so, at < 1 SU, this purchase barely even hit my radar. At my house we have created a new currency called the "ScubaBuck"(SB). $1SB = $100USD or $125...

Low cost and awesome. I have put one on all of my kits. Yes, kits plural. Joy of a dual-continent lifestyle. ;)

You won't regret getting one. They're fantastic.

My mom got me one of these for my birthday this year... and I love it. They're very, very neat. :)

Any way to coordinate with these folks to get a portion of proceeds (even just $1 per pendant) to be donated to efforts on behalf of the GPO initiative in Seattle? Just a thought...

Re: Hearing on protecting Cove 2 from GPO harvesting happeni

Thanks for the update Janna! Wow, sounds like a very productive meeting. This is fantastic. I would agree that an updated survey would be important as I think the diving scene has changed radically since then. I am happy about how the community has come together around this issue, and that the unity...

Re: Remembering the Al-Ind-Esk-A Sea

Nice article! Kudos to Scott and Walter. :)

I'm in the camp of liking the Al. My first dive on her was "eh" with no vis. Second dive had pretty good vis. It's fun. And Josh is right, there is no better "workup dive site" for the Gov than the Al.

Re: Puerto Rico / Caribbean dives during cruise

St Lucia was beautiful diving when I went there; got in a full week of diving and it was lovely.

But +1 to either ensuring you book your diving through the cruise line and/or ensuring the dive operator is clear on your time limits. Cruise ships do not wait for straggling passengers.

DUI CF200 Drysuit

Time for me to find a new home for the last of the gear that must go before I relocate. I have a CF200 DUI drysuit with blue cammo overlay. The overlay on this suit is only on the front chest (does not go down the arms like on TLS suits) so it's minimal. The suit is loaded with all of the extras, in...
