:hal The only real thing to consider there is do you want weight on your back or do you want to carry it as ditchable and do you want the strap slots or not? No, you don't consider it ;) since you don't use ditchable weights when diving doubles. You use a v-weight that goes between the tanks and und...

Yeah, I think the rebreather is something I won't rush into, I want to take the class and do the research before 'taking the plunge'. One good board to read is The Rebreather World . - what kind of backplate should I get, and what considerations go into choosing one? What makes a crappy one compare...

Now, I need info on rebreathers, what brands and price range plus what features to look for. I'm looking to get into a setup sometime this spring/summer. Prices for rebreathers start from about 8000$ a unit and a c-card for the device is about 1000$, so about 10k$ to start diving a rebreather. RBs ...

How does the weather affect our plans for tomorrow? I mean if all hell is going to break loose it would be better to stay out of water. But you people who know the site and conditions better make the decision. I'm about to hitch a ride from Scubak to the site on saturday morning and we should arrive...

Well, I don't think that Apeks is owned by Aqualung. Aqualung distributes Apeks equipment in the US, that is a fact.

"Apeks regulators are considered the benchmark standard that other manufacturers strive for in high performance reliability."
nuff said about Apeks :rr:

No, Apeks is a company on it's own making some of the finest products in the industry, really. You know you can also buy Suunto-branded regs, but they are the same as Apeks atx-100. I used to have Aqualung Cousteau Glacias and liked them a lot but had problems with them starting to freeze on long di...

The typical types of steel tanks in terms of pressure are: 200 bar = 2 900.75475 pounds per square inch 232 bar = 3 364.87552 pounds per square inch 300 bar = 4 351.13213 pounds per square inch The 200bar tanks are older type and can be filled as the 232bar ones. Volumes are a bit more tricky to con...

Re: Looks like fun

How cold is it there now? Water temp is about 39-35f, depending on the site. The water temp doesn't change that much between summer and winter, in depths below 75ft it's allways 39f. Air temp now is something around 5-14f, which is still ok for diving. :) Looks like fun It is, tons of fun , on a ni...

Diving in Finland

If you wanna see diving in Finland during winter, I found one site that has a few fresh pics how it is like back there, enjoy. :) These pics are from the coast and it doesn't look like the puget sound to me ;) Here is another site having pics from a very nice wreck and a very popular "cave"...

Hey, can someone borrow me a tank (or two) for saturday. I guess we can get fills from the hoodsportndive so one tank would be sufficient? Also a pair of fins (size L) and a weight belt would be highly appreciated. ;) This way I'd not need to rent them for the weekend.

Almost anything goes in terms of the brand. Halcyon, DiveRite, Agir, OMS, they all have the same type of backplates and wings available. One thing to keep in mind is the size of the wing you are going to get, ie. bigger (heavier) the tanks the bigger the wing. I have a 38lbs wing for doubles and it'...
