Re: Swimmers Ear
Also if she's a habitual user of q-tips to clean her ears she'll need to stop aggressive cleanings with them. It may pack wax further into the ear causing problems. It also wipes away the protective earwax and abrades the surface tissue making it more vulnerable to infection. Between windsurfing and...

Re: Hanging up my fins....
I sorry to read this but extremely happy to not be ironing a shirt to wear to a funeral. Hanging up your fins seems like a small price to pay when you are able to enjoy so many other things. I'm fortunate to have had the opportunity to dive and train with you. Hopefully you'll do a better job of kee...

Dive the La Brea Tar Pits
I'm listening to a podcast that has a LAPD diver discussing an evidence dive in the La Brea Tar Pits. I've heard some crazy stories but this takes the cake. The rest of the This is Criminal episodes are pretty good too.

I'm shocked and dismayed. Lynn was one of my favorite people to dive with. I was just planning to introduce a friend who needs a dive mentor to her since I've been dry lately. Condolences Peter, she deserves words far more eloquent than what I can generate at the moment.

Cove II is protest central this weekend
It looks like many of the anti-Shell kayak flotilla is staging out of Seacrest Park this weekend. If you've got plans to dive somewhere else might be a better bet this weekend.

Re: Big tank to borrow?
You'll have to clear customs to get back to VM. After hours they'd have to call customs to come out. You're still hours and hours away. In the case of diving at God's Pocket you have the time while you transit back to Port Hardy to figure out your destination and how to get there. Flight time for a...

Re: Big tank to borrow?
Assuming you can actually get a ferry out of Nanaimo you are about 9hrs away from the chamber. The north island air ambulance resources are not what you'd imagine/expect. Not getting bent is a better option but Airlift Northwest's Seattle or Juneau based Lear 31 are pretty speedy (two hour flight f...

Re: Free Fixer-Upper Dive Boat to Good Home
I think that is defiantly a case of not letting perfect be the enemy of good enough. Just make sure that you have appropriate marine components like a spark arrester on the air intake, marine starter, marine alternator, etc. so you don't blow anything up.

Seattle Marine next to the ballard bridge. SeaMar is actually around Commodore Way West of Fisherman's Terminal. The Nickerson/Emerson St. overpass above 15th Ave. is currently being replaced so getting on and off 15th is a bit tricky. If you already there take a look at the Victorinox net knives, ...

Re: DNR proposed new Aquatic Lands Habitat Conservation Plan
A family member was involved in drafting the first terrestrial habitat conservation plan in Washington about fifteen years ago. This is a very new and infrequently used environmental planning strategy that, unless things have changed, may yet to be applied to an aquatic environment. It's probably be...

So this thread has documented the beginning of a new hobby for me. The meads I discussed earlier in the thread ...
