Red Irish Lord or...??

Post by Echo »

I stumbled on this fish last night at Mukilteo, I've always been drawn to the specks in the eyes of the Red Irish Lord, this one did not. Not only not having specks, but the eye itself was not something I've seen before. Either this is a color variation that I've never seen before, or it's not an Irish Lord. It was about 10" from nose to tail.

I think you have an Irish Lord. I looked at my pictures of them and in situations where I took several shots of the same fish, I noticed that some of the pictures did not show the spots in the eye and some did.

And they are highly variable in color - totally depending on background.

I've seen grey or brown ones as well. Some with white spots even. The coloration of the eye was kind of a throw off.
