New fish list

Post by oldsalt »

http://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-new ... al-to-253/
The Seattle Times reported an article on NOAA updating the list of fish known in the Salish Sea. It bumps the number to 253 species. In the 70's I was able to work as a science diver at a marine biology lab. The ichthyology prof wanted to see how many species we could collect over the summer. We were pleased to find somewhere about 85. How woeful that number seems now.

Thanks for posting the original document.
Looks like I am too old to come even close to your 85, much less to 253 ...

I take photos because I like it, not because I'm good at it. :) by Unknown

Don't feel bad - many of those were found NOT doing nearshore diving. There's no way we could see that many species because we are limited to diving depths.
