Sund Rock Invertibrate
Sund Rock Invertibrate
We saw this at Sund Rock last Saturday, but I can't identify it in my books or via the usual web sites. Your help will be appreciated.

Plumose Anemone.
Confidence is the feeling you have before you understand the situation.

Yup. There are two types that we call "Plumose Anemone" typically. One, the really tall, obvious one, is Metridium farcimen. The second, much smaller one, is the one you've got there, and it's Metridium senile. There is a real geometric pattern that stands out to me, that the tentacles form.

What's funny is that I've seen and identified Short Plumose Anemone before, but this time it didn't click in my mind. Perhaps, because of the angle.

Yep, those are the ones! I think these pics have longer tentacles, so you don't see that patterning like you did in your most recent photo.
