Sunrise Beach 9/24 - Camera stealing GPO warning!

Post by stphnmartin »

Met Scubie and did one long dive at Sunrise beach this afternoon. While I was gearing up a man who lives at the nearby house came out and told me 3 days prior he saw humpback whales right off of his back porch. However, we didn't see any.

The current was nil which made for a comfortable experience. There was also hundreds of perch frolicking at the top of the wall. I found a large GPO at the base of the wall and setup my camera to record. It didn't like this one bit and grabbed my camera and a struggle ensued. My Sola's are on loc-line arms which can snap off easily and it took ahold of one and you can hear it squeaking. We played tug-o-war as it wrapped its tentacles around the housing.

Here's the video of the battle--which means I was victorious!

Stephen, awesome video! A different GPO grabbed my light head and just about pulled me into its den. I had the light positioned to take a photo :) I will post some pics soon.

Great shots scubie. The warbonnet did hang out with you for a while. Nice angle on the scallop too!

Thanks Stephen. I appreciate you showing me sunrise from shore :) I have several shots of that Warbonnet if you go to my gallery. But those are my three favorite.

You diving on Thursday?

That marker buoy has been my 'destination' several times in the kayak, it makes a nice paddle up from a launch in Da Harbor... :breakdance: Never been *under* it though...

great photos!
