wondering what this is?

wondering what this is?
While diving down the canal I shot this octopus with something in it's funnel. It appeared to be going in and out with his breathing. Maybe a parasite? any ideas?
It's a good day.... nobody died!

That's his nose, it's a booger.

Looks like a spermatophore- probably a recently-mated female.

I thought it might be a parasite, but I'm not sure. Are the spermatophors usually that elongated?

The spermatophores are huge- about three feet long.
