What's in your save-a-dive kit?

I thought the only thing in Sounders save a dive kit was a cell phone pre-programmed with the numbers to Salvo, Deep Sea Supply, and Dive Xtras.

They're not in my SADK.

I normally carry the standard stuff orings, bolt snaps, hoses, etc. I also like to carry at least one of the smaller crescent wrenches. They fit well into the fishing tackle box I use as my save-a-dive kit. I learned not too long ago that I wasn't able to save a dive with my box of orings and no tools. :geek:

BTW - to make this somewhat on-topic... I find most of the tools in my SADK rust pretty easily, and the "dive tools" you buy at a shop or from Leisure Pro that are supposedly chromed flake/or chip too easily. I highly recommend heading over to Harbor Freight for a cheap set to throw in the SADK and keep the good stuff at home. At least that way, the replacement cost doesn't suck. You're not going to use the SADK tools a whole heck of a lot, so the cheap stuff is reasonably okay. They make some nice sets of folding hex keys in metric and SAE, and have some cheap crescent wrenches and o-ring pick sets. While you're there, pick up a viton o-ring kit for like $20... has everything but the -003 rings for high pressure spools, and tank neck rings, which, if they blow, you're gonna need a shop to fill you up anyway, and they'll have a replacement.

If you're looking for o-rings for a SADK, I recommend SmallParts.com... owned and operated by Amazon, so the customer service is what you expect, and their inventory is available through Amazon on the main site, instead of the SmallParts site, which means you can combine with other stuff for free shipping - or if you're an Amazon Prime member, it shows up on your door in two days at no extra cost, even if you order just one packet of rings. You can put your own SADK o-ring kit together a lot cheaper than the pre-made kits. Sizes needed are -003, -006, -007, -008, -010, -011, -012, -013, -014, -015, -016, -019, -022, -023, -024, -025, -112, and -214. A lifetime supply will cost you under $20, or you can make up quite a few kits for your buddies.

A few things I carry that haven't been mentioned are spare port plugs for LP ports, the doughnuts for Pro valves, and one or more drysuit inflator hoses (great for people who have just come back from warm water trips, and have forgotten to put their back on their regs -- I've done this, and I've also been at sites where somebody else has). I also keep a set of wet gloves in the box, for those times when one either forgets ones drygloves, or has a catastrophic failure (and I carry a set of spare gloves for my drygloves as well).

But my SADK is absolutely humbled by the one carried by Tobin of Deep Sea Supply. The guy has a small WELDING TORCH in it, for Heaven's sake!

An extra first stage has come in handy more than once, and saved someone from having to sit out during a dive but honestly, I've managed to live without my SADK and rarely ever carry it with me unless I'm going on a multi day trip.

Really? Wow - I bring mine on every dive. I have it in a small tool-box so it's easy to grab and I keep it right next to my O2 kit so I grab them boat at the same time.

OK so am I the only one who noticed that sounder grabs his BOAT at the same time he goes diving??

I wasgoing to post "PORN" is the only thing in my SADK, but thought better of it.

I was then really put to the test when I saw the "double ender" thingy. My fingers were just dying to type something.
