Life in the Muk

Post by Octoloco »

Dove the T-dock last night. First half hour was a snoozer. Then we hit the jackpot! A total of 14 octopus, a stubby squid, 2 tiny juvenile wolf eels that we hadn't come across before, 5 different species of nudibranchs, a baby skate, a snailfish, a horned shrimp and last but certainly not least - a beautiful lumpie!

Nice pics! I haven't seen any lumpies for a couple of weeks now. How deep was it?

That's the magic depth lately. All of the ones that I've been seeing have been at 11-12'.

This is the 1st we've seen at Mukilteo though I understand there's at least one more at the same depth there.

Thanks! It was certainly one of the best dives at the T-dock we've had.

Indeed!! I dive the T-dock all the time and have yet to rack up that kind of list of sightings...

The only part that is somewhat hard to swallow is the number of Octos...really 14?

Plus a stubby squid so a total of 15! The one in the geodome was the biggest and they dropped dramatically in size from there, but indeed 15! Got a pic of each one.

Oh, I'm envious of the skate! I've only ever seen one, at the Junkyard, and it was years ago.

Congratulations on the great dive and thanks for the awesome report! I am usually happy with two or three octos and assorted other critters but you hit them all! Did you make it down to where the big guy has been hanging out? I am coming over tomorrow to show him to a buddy from the east side.

Wow... 15... That's got to be a record!!! The best I've ever done is 5-6... Great pics!!! I'm currently dry for another 4 wks or so but at least I can dive through other more observant eyes...
