Dove with Penders and Bucknaked last night. Viz about 15'-20', a little current on the first dive. Lots of critters.

Nice shots. Was it already floating midwater?

Great question. I should have addressed that in my post. I maintain a relatively strict rule that I do not manipulate critters to "get a shot". Sometimes I startle an octo or squid and they ink and go jetting off, producing a nice photo opp. But I try not to move critters. In this case I bent my rule a little. I have seen 3 sea spiders while diving. Every single one was on a horrible background and I could not get a clear picture of it. This Spider was next to a dark bottle, so I gently tried to coax it on to the bottle. In doing so the spider drifted upward and got mixed up in the current about 12-18" off the sand. It then folded itself up and expanded (the pictures you see) before it settled back down. I wasn't sure if I had gotten a picture, but I didn't want to mess with it anymore, so I crossed my fingers a hoped for the best. I always try to respect my surroundings while photographing, whether it is a reef or a critters or even a fellow diver :)

Nice photos and finds! That sculpin is too cool. I have never seen one. Same with the shrimp. Thanks for posting those shots.

Very cool shots! I've only seen one once, hanging out on an anemone.
