The numbers vary, but some estimates are as high as 80 million sharks are killed each year. How the fisherman do it is horrible, but the number of sharks harvested is staggering.

Good luck, The rich Chinese business men don't care if we wipe out every shark out there. Eating shark fin soup with it's high price tag is a status thing that says they are now rich enough to do whatever they want! With increasing wealth in china there is ever increasing demand for expensive items like shark fin soup, rino horn and ivory and probably a lot of other things we don't even know about. Wealth breeds contempt.

Many countries have banned this practice but the countries where the demand is have done nothing.
