So, whatever it is, it's not species-specific. Hmm.

Couple of juvenile sea stars. The older stars don't fit onto the mirror.

Jan it looks like we came up with the same idea independently :)

Here's a shot I took about a year ago with a mirror -- they're certainly challenging to work with, but the effect is worth it I think

Superb shot !

My idea came about little differently. I was originally interested to watch the behavior of
fish when they see their image in the mirror. But maybe because of timing, not being
mating season or what, only Painted greenlings have shown the reaction I anticipated.
The Scalyhead sculpins are naturally curious when light is falling on something in their
neigborhood, so since I was already lugging a mirror along, I tried it on critter with
very, very poor or no eyesight - and liked the image. So I am still fiddling with it ... :)

And when the mirror is put away, I am still interested what is for lunch at the local dive hole ...

Thanks Jesse, Yes I see Ling eat them, but never saw them in the act of actually catching the octopus.

More of smoke and mirrors project :)

Oh, man, the fish portraits are unreal, Jan . . . Is there ANYTHING with a camera that you can't do superbly?

Jan I have a request, I think one of those mirror shots would look awesome with a juvenile PSKC!

...riding a ling...that has an octo hanging out of it's mouth.

And I would not be surprised at all if Jan could pull it off.

:partydance:

Big THANK YOU guys. As for the juvenile PSKC, it is definitely on my list.
Meanwhile, you have to settle for its cousin, the Heart crab.

That was it! Jan, you are great. I show your pictures to all my non diving friends when they want to know what we see down there. But I never see all that you see. Thanks

Thanks Chris, Desert Diver.
Meanwhile, since PSKC hides every time it seems me coming, here are some easier targets.

Yesterday was another of these days when it seemed that visibility under water
might be better than the foggy world above. So it was only appropriate to done
dive gear and go celebrate my birthday beneath the surface of Keystone ...
