Re: Edmonds UW Park dive accident :(
Too much diving sadness lately :(

- I got a good squirt in my mouth
- I would imagine that there would be a large amount of involuntary gagging
- I don't know about you but I'm not into swallowing it

Another sad event at Edmonds and another very experienced diver gone. My heart goes out to those who were there and to the family and friends who lost a loved one today.

Very sad. I don't know any of them personally, but I do know that there is a very close-knit crew of regulars that work on the park most weekends. My thoughts are with them right now, losing a dive buddy is very rough.

Holy sh!t ... he was parked a couple cars down from us. We left right around noon, and there were emergency vehicles going that way as we were pulling into the Underwater Sports to get some tanks filled. Looked like they'd stopped at the ferry terminal ... I assumed something was going on in there.

These types of accidents always cause my husband a little extra worry. I would like to send a note of encouragement to the family, anyone know to whom I should address that? I would like family members to know that the diving community cares and feels their loss as well.
No matter the cause of this accident, we all share a sense of sadness for a tragedy like this.

MARYSVILLE - Ralph L. Sweet III of Marysville was identified May 27 as the 60-year-old man who drowned May 24 at the Edmonds Underwater Park.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner's Office reported that the cause of the accidental drowning was related to cardiac arrhythmia.
County Fire District 1 spokeswoman Leslie Hynes said earlier that Sweet was an experienced diver who was with a few others to do maintenance at the park. The man told his fellow divers about 10 minutes earlier that he was going to shore, she added.
