I tried to revive an old thread for the Captain, but couldn't find one! Is that even possible? A search for Cousteau on NWdiveclub turns up empty?
Well, today would have been his 104th birthday.
Tonight, I will raise a glass to toast the man who created my sport, the tools of my vocation, brought a new level of awareness to the sea and the environment and also inspired countless people to simply go out and explore.
To the Captain:
The passage at the end of this video is from Lagoon of Lost Ships, a Truck Lagoon voyage from 1969 I believe....
And Jean-Michele's son, Fabien, is spending a month on Aquarius Reef Base. I think the original endurance record was set by Astronaut Scott Carpenter on SEALAB II:

I think it is safe to say that majority of older divers have found Silent World and subsequent stories and movies the
primer for our interest in SCUBA diving.
