I'm thinking to head down to dive Flagpole on Saturday ... and wondering how those of you more familiar with this site plan it, relative to tidal exchanges. We're looking at a roughly 7-foot flood from early morning to mid-afternoon. Would you dive is during the flood exchange? Or plan it some other way.
I'm especially concerned about the surface swim ... diving it on a flood seems like it would help by pushing you where you want to go ... but I'm not sure if that's the case.
Any thoughts?

You thinking of diving it this weekend?
The ocean is a lousy teacher. First you get a test, then the lesson.

If I had to wager a guess, I would think Bob is going down there on SaturdayKneeDeep wrote:You thinking of diving it this weekend?
**Pinch it, don't stick your finger through. You're just pinching a bigger hole.

Hey Bob
I got your message late last night, sorry I didn't get back sooner.
There is a decent exchange on Saturday, the water will be flooding from the north. Swimming from the shore I prefer to dive this site on a flood. You can swim almost directly east and let the current push you to the buoy. I find the biggest issue with this site to be wind. NOAA is predicting 10 knots from the south. So you have current going to the south and wind pushing north.
I usually avoid these days. The wind generally is calmer early. You might try to get there early and if it looks calm swim out. You can evaluate as the day continues and dive the shallows around the point if it gets too windy.
