"deep sea" for sale

Post by thelawgoddess »

just came across an ad selling "deep sea" - the boat or the entire turnkey business. i was just on it not that long ago. does anyone know why they are selling? (not that i'm looking to buy; just curious.)

I'd heard they were considering selling the charter biz. I think you SHOULD buy it!!! \:D/

They basically want to get a smaller boat that uses less fuel, and is cheaper to run, is my understanding.

well, that would explain the boat ... but not the entire business. unless they want to get a smaller boat and just go diving (instead of watching other people do it). :-)

Hmmm- I think he still wants to run charters, just smaller ones....maybe selling the business as a package with the boat makes the deal more attractive? Easy enough to start another business with a new boat, I guess.

Nailer-

Any word on what type of boat they are going to replace it with? The current boat is a nice dive platform, I'd hate to see it leave the San Juans (unless it ends up on Vancouver Island somewhere).

I don't really know much- Just that he wanted to downsize. Possibly something trailer-able. I like diving off the deep sea- great platform. I too, hope it stays available to us.

Regarding the "selling the business" statement - my information was 3rd-hand hearsay so it is quite possible there is more to the story.

That's a beautiful boat. It's in amazing condition considering that it's 43 years old!

It's right there in the ad on Scubaboard TLG linked to in the original post- no secret- one price for just the boat, another for boat+ turnkey business.

For a lifetime of free charters and diving, I might be willing to invest a couple of dollars into somebodies new Dive Charter Operation? Huh? Any takers? Im guessing that this is not a get rich type of investment. I just hope that someone keeps it in the Local PNW family and we can all continue to dive from this boat!

Looks like both the boat and business are sold. Hopefully it will continue to be a dive charter.

Guess a trip down to Everett would have put a damper in that, eh? ](*,)
